Correct. The "discount" referred to in this thread was a $100 off discount code emailed to specific customers. At this time nobody really knows what the prerequisites are for receiving this $100 off discount.

Google IS giving customers $100 Google Store credit when you buy a new Pixel 9a from the Google Store. Additional Store Credit is offered for those customers who are subscribed to Google One Storage. They give 2% back as store credit for those customers who pay for 200GB Google One storage and 10% back as store credit for customers who pay for 2TB Google One storage and above.

I have the 2TB AI plan (free with my Pixel 9 Pro) so I earned an extra 10% store credit when I purchased my 9a ($138 credit earned because I had an additional $100 off coupon). This store credit is applied to your account within 24 hours of your device shipping. My credit was applied as soon as I received my shipping notification.

I got a $100 discount offer in my Gmail account, with the $100 store credit, so I ordered one. I don't have a trade-in. And while I have good credit I've always just paid cash for a phone before, the offer of 36 months 0% interest was too good to pass up, $11 per month. The Google Store card is thru Synchrony bank; I have a Lowes card thru them, and was approved for $2500 limit.

My 6a is going strong as well, but Google is offering a lot of incentive to upgrade now (just like when the 6a launched). The trade in + store credit + 10% off means that many can essentially get the phone for half off right now. I'm going to use the store credit and resell whatever I buy for $60-70. When the next iteration of pixels comes out, I don't think the 6a will have very much trade in value.

Pixel 6a only gets two more year of support. While 9a gets 7 years. Plus might be the last year you can actually trade it in and get something. Also the screen feels more responsive.

I'm in the same boat, got my 6a 2 years ago for $150. And I'm on the fence. The extra $100 shop card from Costco does sweeten the deal.
