You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

The only reason to get this over getting one from Metro would be to get it unlocked faster. Is that correct?

Anyone know the limit for how many purchases you can make with ID verification? I bought 2 different phones in 2024 through total. But every time I try id verification it fails.

Thanks Demon. I took the plunge. $165 up front for 3 months of service. The previous iPhone deals (Boost/Metro) did not work for me bc they had long unlock periods. A long unlock is not a good deal if, like me, you're on a low cost ($15 mo.) mobile plan. This deal, at $165 minus what I would have had to pay for 3 months of T-mobile service ($45) nets me a new iPhone13 for 120 bucks.

You must not be reading the same thing as everyone else. Phone auto unlocks after 60 days of service. Once unlocked it's unlocked & works anywhere an iPhone works.

It says on checkout in T&C that it unlocks after 60 days; folks can read themselves if they don't believe it.
In prior TotalWireless threads users have confirmed this works -- sure a few may have had issues, but vast majority had no issues.

I just purchased using google voice number, $165 confirmed, no problem ordering.
