You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

After you receive the phone, you activate and initiate the actual port in online. This is where you have to input all your port in data: account number, code, address

lol, in Germany you need to ID verify over video for a freaking simple prepaid SIM card activation, I travel there regularly and usually just get a cheap prepaid SIM card and very time the same nonsense
