You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Oh I see devices free with 3 months of service which amount to 165. If I order a second line of service can I get service discounted on second line? so I have to pay for 3 months of service but device unlocks after 60 days? so I can sell the phone after it unlocks after 2 months of paid service with one month of free service?

Yes, when I hit place order. it says can't process this request please call. I don't know if it's because I didn't have an account and set one up middle of the process. It won't let me add my name or anything in the account.

No that should not be the cause because I did create an account and ordered a phone. It doesn't say your payment declined? You're not connected to a VPN?

Nope nothing about payment issues. No VPN. Were you able to add your name and information to your account? It won't let me do that either.

I used TextNow to get a number for this deal (don't want to port out my GV or current ATT number either)

did the free sign up on TextNow but their customer service was offline when I was trying to buy the iphone so I ended up having to pay $2 to activate the "premium version" of TextNow
All worked out as I was able to confirm the eligibility code that Total Wireless sends you when confirming eligibility

Placed the order for the iphone and hopefully it all works out
