You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

1. if I order now and take it to another country after activating, will I be able unlock overseas after 2 months?
2. can I add second device as soon as I place first device order? or do I need to wait until I get 1st device and activate it?
3. any discount in plan cost if adding multiple lines?

I am planning on getting the pixel 10 when it drops later this year and using this for the boosted trade in values that google or best buy normally have.

But still on the fence if I will get any good value out of this since the iphone 13 will be around 4 years old when the new pixel drops. Anyone have any idea if this is a good idea or are there better phones to get more money back?

Do I have to wait until phone arrives to go through porting process? I paid and ordered but was never asked for a pin or account number or anything?

So is there a need to activate the phone at all if I am eventually looking to sell? Can I simply activate the simcard on a different device to start the 60 day timer?

Sim is linked to imei & requires activation on the phone it comes with to start unlock time.

Been in chat for 10 minutes withTextnow waiting for a person to answer and no joy. I need info to port out.

Finally after about 25 minutes someone came in to chat. I got my info in only a min after that. Now i entered it into total wireless and will wait to see if it works. Any idea how long the port in works from TextNow to Total Wireless?

To add a data point:I ported 4 google voice # to four iphone 13 using the google voice # as the account # and pin. (I never created a voicemail pin on any of the GV #) The number seem to transfer over on the phone but not completely (it's still in the GV but the lock/unlock option is not gone yet). Calling out on the iphone shows the # but if you call the iphone # it goes to google voice (same with text). The 5g internet works great!According to total wireless it'll take a few days to completely transfer over. I'll edit this post if it doesn't fully transition over in the next couple days.

can we get more than 1 GV number?
One per Google account. Free to open more Google accounts or just Port One phone number at a time after port completes then you can create another Google Voice number

That's right but you don't have to port in with the same number you made the purchase with it doesn't matter what phone number you select when placing online order

I ordered my phone on April 10. It didn't arrive until 8pm on Friday the 18th. I had already unlocked my Google Voice number for porting in. And filling out the port request with my GV phone number as the account, "Other" as the carrier, and the address as my home address seemed to be accepted. All weekend, the port had not gone through. This morning, I was able to make calls and texts with the iPhone 13 but not receive either. As others have said, when calling my number, it would go to GV voicemail. I spoke to THREE Total Wireless reps, with the last one being the correct one at the Porting Department (866-806-1840 extension 456123). He said that as a courtesy, before the port is completed, they activate your phone number so you can make calls. He said it would not be until Tuesday, April 22 at 2pm before the port would be completed. This afternoon (Monday, the 21st) I got an email from GV saying they received a port out request and to contact them if this was not requested by me. Within an hour after that, my iPhone 13 was fully operational for incoming and outgoing calls and texts. Whewwww.
