You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Are you getting incoming calls/texts. I ported in with GV. outgoing calls and text work but no incoming text or voice. Customer service is useless.

Exactly the same issue when ported in GV. Did you find a solution?

It will work on its own... the port just has not completed but will in a day or two (not counting weekends)>

I just got to this part: https://www.totalwireless.com/extras/disney-plus what is the activation portal?
I called yesterday and was told that it was not part of the promotion (and I know it was advertised as part of the package). If anyone has had success getting the Disney+ subscription, I'd love to know how.

I understand I have to wait about 2 days for port in from GV. Currently my outgoing text and voice works but incoming doesnt. Total Wireless Portal shows my GV number and Google voice website also has my number. I contacted GV chat and they stated Total Wireless started the port request when they send me the text message during the order process of the phone!!?.. At that time I didnt pay the $3 to unlock the number from GV. The next Day after ordeing the phone I unlocked the number from GV. and yesterday when I got the phone I entered the information including pin and account number. Not sure why GV support thinks the inital port request was the day I ordered the phone? I will wait another day.
But if I have to cancel the port and restart a new port whats the steps now?

Just got a suprise call from Total Wireless: "Hi ******* from Total Wireless covered by the Verizon 5G network is secreted to go for ******** They request for your number to be transferred as being released by your old service provider and it is a schedule to be completed at exactly April 23rd 2025 at 2:00 pm Of Eastern Standard Time So all you got to do make sure that SIM card will be inserted properly into the phone Turn the phone program"
I think in future to speed things up we should have the GV unlocked BEFORE starting the purchase process. GV recognizes that text message from Total Wireless as the beginning of the process of porting, even though I didnt submit accoutn or pin. By Tomorrow my incoming calls/text should be working.

Ordered yesterday morning, phone was shipped by evening on UPS 2nd day delivery, very fast service.

Ordered with GV previously but activated with metro (as unable to receive otp on metro), but this time will activate with GV.

Got a call today saying they are in the process of porting my number from Text Now and it will be completed by tomorrow 2pm. SO it does take about 2 days to do the port in. If it does work tomorrow I'll be satisfied.

Port-out from Text Now took less than 24 hours. They included a grumpy "our service is not intended to be used only for porting out" message in chat when I made the request, probably because they were getting slammed by us.

After trading in my iPhone 11 from a previous TW deal, I'm up $2-3 bucks.

BTW, per the suggestion of a couple of people here, I just used my GV number for porting/code verification at the time of placing the order. I did not need need to actually port that number when activating.
