You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Just a follow up on the unlocking. So mine did not unlock automatically after 60 days of activation. I needed to swap the sim card with the one from other carrier, login to my apple account again, and it's unlocked. Thanks.
I'm at 65+ days since activation and the iPhone is still not automatically unlocked under Settings. I did everything by the book and kept SIM in the phone the entire time. It's so ridiculous they make people jump through extra hoops when it's supposed to be an automatic process if you do everything properly using the phone/service as intended.

That's unusual since iPhones have automatically unlocked for years. Give unlock dept a call, they can fix it.

I'm sorry that you have the same problem I had. I probably just got lucky with what I did.

I read earlier on this thread that you need to pay additionally to enable text services on Numberbarn now. That's why I used Googlevoice which just cost me $3 to unlock.

Okay all done, went through the whole process and it worked flawlessly. We bought our phones on April 10th activated on the 17th cancelled the auto renew a month later then ported out yesterday to US Mobile.

The whole thing was super smooth and yesterday's port out was the easiest I've ever experienced. Two thumbs up to Total Wireless.

Now I wonder if I should/could do it again for a backup phone?

I know it can be fixed manually but I really wanted to find out where the automatic process failed. The iPhone shows up as unlocked on the Apple GSX when checking imei.info or imeicheck.com. But when I go to the TFW unlock portal I get an error message when looking up by serial #. When looking up by phone number I get "Your device is not eligible for our Unlocking Program." And I still have SIM locked as the Carrier Lock status in phone settings.

I know Visible had a batch of iPhone 13s that would not unlock purchased last winter. I purchased in the spring and mine unlocked flawlessly. I activated , removed the sim, used ii in an S24, put it back on day 59, by day 61 it was unlocked. Needed a reboot.

I know they are getting stricter with policy now and want it to be active so not sure if the same would work.

Its possible TW also got a batch of 13s with bad unlock programming

I bought one last year and it worked on tracfone, and on Verizon physical sims.

I just got my 2nd iPhone 13 this week. Ordered a Psim from Verizon and will test it out if this still holds true.
Did you verify id again for 2nd purchase?

Inbound texts on NumberBarn are free, but outbound is an additional fee.

Reset the phone, it'll be unlocked.
