Hmmm... Should I buy this on PC to play solo (with mods), or buy it for PS5 so that I can maybe play co-op with my buddy? OR, switch so I can take it with me to play on the go?

All of these are the correct answer.

Very fun game, but don't buy it if you're someone who doesn't like gaming with wiki/youtube/other resources sitting right next to you at all times to guide you through it. It has a brief tutorial to start I believe, but all it does is show you basic mechanics. It does nothing to "show you the way," if that makes sense.

That being said, it's insanely fun. Probably the best 2D scroller I've ever played, but f*ck is it frustrating having to look every single thing up as you're playing. I'd much rather maintain my focus on the actual game the entire time I'm playing.

Good point. I like just going in and discovering things on my own and always felt so lost in this game. Never lasted more than 2 hours before quitting. One of these days I'll actually put in the time and effort to learn.

There is a literal Guide in the game.

No he's right. There are a lot of stuff in the game when I played that is never explain to you. You have to spend a lot of time reading the wiki; the guide is not helpful for a lot of first time players.

My 2nd most played game in Steam. Definitely worth it to me at full price.

"2D Minecraft" doesn't accurately describe it. Sure it's 2D block building, but Terraria is a progression type game. You mine and explore to get better and craft better armor/weapons, but there is a list of bosses to fight and kill to progress and "beat" the game. It's completely optional of course as you can just build to your heart's content. Technically you beat Minecraft in the same way by defeating the ender dragon.

Protip: Before you defeat the Wall of Flesh, you want to make sure you are thoroughly equipped well, and I would advise isolating your base and NPC houses from any other block. After killing the Wall of Flesh and entering hard mode, the corruption/crimson/hallow spreads very quickly and will completely override biomes, and can do the same for your base.

What's a good age for this game? I'm thinking of getting the 4 pack for myself and my three kids, but it's not a genre they're familiar with and I'm worried it might be a bit tough.

My son and I started playing this not long after it came out, he was 9. We've put 100s of hours in, over several playthroughs. I think it has a lot to offer, building, boss fights, events. You can choose a "safe mode" if your kids are younger. I would highly recommend it for a family, and it's the right price to see if you like it.

Awesome, thanks. I'm dealing with two 8-year-olds and a 10 year old, and while I think the year old would be fine, I'm not as sure about the eight year olds. I figure for 15 bucks, I might as well just grab the four pack now and we'll play it as I get older.
