These will auto unlock in 60 days AFTER activation. You do have to activate it first.

The other thing to note - these are bootloader LOCKED which doesn't seem like a big deal, but running "stock" retail US unlocked firmware is a lot better than the MVNO ones.

Basically if you buy this phone from best buy or moto direct etc - you get a "RET US" firmware (Retail USA). If you buy it from a provider like Total - you get an MVNO firmware that has a bunch of loaded bloatware, and your updates are tied to the total wireless / mvno chain, as opposed to the basic non bloated firmware chain.
so does anyone know of a tool or list of bloatware apps/svces to remove to make the phone run faster ohter than the manual method of eyeballing/remove?

Can you not flash a stock firmware after it's unlocked?

The phone description (https://www.totalwireless.com/sma...24-prepaid) indicates no 5G and CDMA. Would it be usable for other providers like T-Mobile after unlocking?

This device will never let you flash a different firmware since it is BOOTLOADER locked - and they do not qualify for software unlock via Motorola's standard unlocker - due to an agreement with the MVNO. You will always be stuck on the Total Wireless firmware, there is no way around it.

You can use different sims/carriers no problem - but you will still have Total Wireless bloat and firmware.

For port-in, people mentioned about $3 google voice. But as I recall, when I activate the TW phone last time, it asked which provider for the current service(I picked Mint Mobile at that time), I didn't recall seeing "Google Voice" in the drop-down list. And I doubt TW could accept Google voice number (it more sounds a trick). Anyone could advice the detail for the GV port-in? Thanks!

You can use my favorite "ADB AppControl" - it is free with some features locked - but the removal of OEM applications is not locked. Plus it is cheap to get the full version. $6 or 7.

You will still need to pick and choose what to uninstall on your own, and do a decent amount of Google work.

Obviously it will be easy to choose to remove things like "Total wireless dashboard" and "really bad clickbait game" - but some of others you will have to use your judgement.

6.9 inches unfolded. I don't understand the fascination with large phones. this is 8mm taller than an iPhone 16 pro max which was already a surfboard to begin with

Just disable the 'Mobile Services' app by Digital Turbine (the icon shows a smartphone with a green check mark on a blue circular background). Otherwise, this app will silently install a ton of other apps without your permission.

After placing an order with port in, is it necessary to complete the port in when the phone arrives? If someone doesn't care about unlocking, can they keep the phone without going through with the port process (provided they are able to order with basic port information)?

The discounted phone price is based on port-in(that is, you leave your existing service provider and switch to them). I think there could be a risk if you choose to activate a new number instead of porting in the old number. I guess they could charge you more later, or they could refuse unlocking the phone for you(not sure if it's Verizon doing the unlock, or TW is. Also, a locked phone can't justify this price). I could be wrong, just a thought.

What's the deal with "verify your identity." The mere fact that they mentioned it makes me think "evil third party takes my data """""""verifies me""""""" and then sells my data to whomever.
yeah and sadly it's not your data, its your *ID* they are collecting, which someone can do a lot of real damage with. not your surfing habits.

If I have a account with them with an active line (last moto deal), can I add a second line to take advantage of this deal, or have to create a new account and do ID verif again? The problem is, I decide not to keep the first line after 30 days, will if affect the added line if I choose the first option?

Wow. If I didn't have a z-fold I would be all over this. Thumbs up. Straight Talk has a similar deal if that service is less expensive or better in your area.
