THEE only Samsung LED TV worth purchasing is the 90 series.....in the olden days the 80/800 series was 95% as good as the 90 but without all the bells & whistles.
Gone are the days in which Samsung and Sony were heads and shoulders above the competition...
Sony has upped their game with the Bravia 9 but it's just slightly better than the TCL QM8 for MUCH more !!
Stop the Fomo, one of the most prominent YouTube TV reviewers, found that basically all TVs regardless of brand name had similar longevity across the board when compared to other TVs at the same price point. The findings were the more you spend, the longer the TV lasts (generally on average), as the components used at various price points are roughly the same across similar price points, getting better as the price went up. This comparison was done using big data vs anecdotal evidence.
In the end, most folks go off their own personal experiences though, so I can't blame you. I personally think purchasing extra warranties are for suckers, but they do bring peace of mind for some folks.

I've purchased two TCL tvs in the past , I believe it's the 6 series . For the price I was extremely impressed with picture quality but a little over a year after owning them BOTH tvs started having issues , one has this whole dead pixel line that goes across the screen . This has put me off from purchasing anything TCL in the future
Not only is the QM8 better, so is the QM7, significantly so. As are the Hisense sets from similar tiers (U7/U8).
The number of dimming zones on this Samsung are laughable/pathetic for a 98" set. This Samsung has 120 zones. For comparison the TCL QM7 has 1500.

Meh TCL has more or less the same odds as any other brand you want to name to develop issues. Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense, TCL, they are roughly the same. Sounds like you were just unlucky. I bought the original 6 series that garnered TCL all of it's current fanfare (the P607 from 2016 ish) as well as a 2019 6 series and both are still going strong.

Yes, it will.
People fair out better with a TCL than a Hisense.
My upper-level Sony lasted 2 months past the 2 year warranty. Sony customer service informed me that I should have not expected for the TV to last past the 2 year mark.
