This tool is super versatile. No brianer at this price. Especially if you already have a DeWalt setup going and you don't need extra batteries.
In the past year alone I've used it to demo walls, cut irrigation pipes, cut out roots in the ground that were invading my irrigation controllers, and trim branches off of trees.
Great demo saw once you learn the value of it!

Just wait for it to be free again with battery purchase. These also usually sell for $99, not $159.

Anyone know how long this would last using a 5ah powerstack battery?

Not enough spacing on the front bracket to see the cutting path, mistake I made in the past.

Great deal on this saw. I [ab]used this for many years. Plenty of power and took a beating with grace. I paid $73 for this is January 2020. Just bought another.

It depends on the depth and resistance of the work, thus the coefficient of friction, and the condition of the blade.

All being normalized, about 30 min.
Worth noting the 3,000 SPM value is under a zero resistance.

If you are doing serious work with a reciprocating saw, a corded model is unquestionably the way to go. This is great for portability and quick jobs though don't get me wrong.

Been waiting on this. I think someone borrowed mine and I never got it back, or it's lost in my garage somewhere. Oh well!

I can't give you a precise running time, but this recip saw is a ripper and a sipper. It has tons of power and with a Power Stack it is very difficult to bog it down, even when pushing it hard. Yet it doesn't annihilate batteries like a grinder or impact tool driving lugs will.

Doing light to moderate demo, 5ah should last all day. If you were running the tool non stop, you should be able to recharge a battery faster than you can discharge, so you could keep it running indefinitely by swapping batteries.

I just cut down and sectioned 11 Eucalyptus trees that were about 3 to 4 inch trunks and about 20 ft tall. I went through 2 6a, 2 5a and a 2a battery. Sawing almost nonstop for 1.5 hours. Thankfully remembered gloves as the saw was HOT. I use the SKil Ugly Stick blade and it's a ripper.
This morning was a symphony of sawz-allz in my neightborhood.

Does this hold the blade secure or does it fall off after a while?

See my comment above. In the 5 or more hours I've been cutting with this it's never let go of a BLADE.
I have used it to remove flooring with some Spyder chipping blades, those broke. Not the tools fault, the tab/hole for the chippers broke. Blades I've never had a problem with. I also don't use it like a hammer or kid. So I know what I'm doing and don't bind the blade.

Never had a blade fall out with this saw, the mechanism is excellent and also back on the tool body so it won't get bumped open on accident.
