Here are the terms:
[cricketwireless.com]
* iPhone 16e 128GB for $199.99. Requires new line & new account.
* Pay first two months of $60/mo. plan service ($120 total) at point of sale, plus device taxes. $60 will be applied to first month service charge. Remaining $60 will be credited to your account and applied to second month service unless used on other eligible service or features.
* Account will remain subscribed to $60/mo. plan for two months. Credit will be lost if service is canceled. Credit is not redeemable for cash, has no cash value & is not transferable or refundable. Online only.
* Requires new account and port-in of new line on the $60/mo. plan. Limit: 2 phones per customer.

One of the Better priced 16e deals out there at the moment. So just wanted to share.

FYI , in Boston area, the in-store deal for the I phone 13 was better than the online deal - Instore needed 1 month of service payment vs 3 months online.- Some stores seem to waive off sign up fees - YMMV)

Not sure if Instore deals might be better for 16e. Will check and update tomorrow

Don't forget the biggest disadvantage with Cricket : Need 6 months of continuous service for Phone Unlock.

Which one is true? 6 month of $60 plan pay for unlock or 2 month of $60 plan pay then pay nothing 4 month for until unlock?

*I see the term&condition says must be complete 6 month of service done for unlock. So it's not a deal.
You should pay 6 times of $60 plan.
$360 + $200 + Tax.

6 months of active service.

In the past deals you could downgrade to the lowest plan.
I'm not sure how it is now

$199 for phone+ 2 months on $60 plan + 4 months on $30 plan . A total of $439 in total for the phone and 6 months of service.
You can bring the cost down a bit by using auto pay and/or buying discounted cricket service cards.

This plan will work for someone who is planning to get two lines and prefers the AT&T network over Verizon. Definitely not for anyone who is just looking for a phone deal with a quick unlock.

You can also call cricket like I did and drop the plan to $15 a month and get 8 months phone plans free. That way it can get unlocked.

Call and tell them you are a student and low income. Say I need the cheapest plan possible. They will give you this grandfathered option.

Anyone else tried this? Seems like a lucrative way to get around it

the 15 dollar plan is zero data so that sounds horrible even if you can get it.
If they let you switch to the $300 annual plan you would pay $319 and taxes plus $240 for 13 months unlimited service. so $570 total basically upfront for a 13months of no hotspot unlimited cricket plan and 16e which would be unlocked.

What is the best place to get a number that I can port in to Cricket for this deal? I tried the text now number I set up and the Cricket number checker on their site and it says it's not eligible.
