Looking for a bike to test out for long rides / endurance type before purchasing a more expensive bike. Main use road/bike path longer rides. I purchased a framed rendal during a previous SD and that has been great for riding with the kids to parks etc.

Im 5'8" and considering this one or the kent 700c Kent Nazz Gravel Road Bike from walmart at $151..Which one would be a better option
I am in exactly the same position as you. Have the same framed rendal from the previous SD deal and now got this as a variation. The price is too good to ignore...

You're not getting Shimano components. All the reviews suggest or directly say this. Same with the pictures they post. You're getting microshift r8 groupset, and people complain about bent derailleur hangars and weak brakes, and a 11-28 rear cassette instead of the advertised 11-32
If it was Shimano Claris id gladly buy this up, but with microshift I'd rather buy a used bike.

yes thinking the same at this price point. I did see a video review on upgrading the rear cassette for cheap but cant find the video. Try this out for a few hundred miles before spending $$$ on something else

The framed rendal has been a solid bike and no issues with that.

I'm male and 5'7". Never had a gravel bike. Is this a good bike for casual biking on a paved road?

What people are missing is this bike is advertised to have a cro-moly frame. If true, that's a sweet frame to build on with whatever amount you want to spend on components. Almost always these bikes are made with high tensile steel which is heavy. Cro-moly is a big step up. Buy it, ride it, replace parts when needed.

It's bent over style but if you're looking for the more upright position with straight handlebars then they also have this one (sizes small - medium)

Any coupons for the straight handlebar models? Please share.

Whomever is responsible at Mendham for not listing the higher quality brand name components should find a new job because these are real selling points. Most buyers especially at this level won't seek out the manufacturer site for additional details.
I'm fairness, most people looking for a $120 Walmart bike, but get this instead, don't know what brand name parts are. I certainly don't. But I know that I've been riding a bike with broken brakes for three years with two huskies pulling it and this is an upgrade... The real downside is that it's a small for this price range.

Great price for an entry level bike with a chromoly steel frame. Claris or Microshift R8 is more than adequate for what this bike is. Not a bike I would take on long grueling rides, but good for a casual, in town or trail ride.
