Edit: had a merchant offer on my Wells Fargo card for 10% CB from Samsung.com orders, stacked with 3% from a certain CB site (includes memory as category). Plus ~$5 in Samsung rewards from when I upgraded to Tab S10 that'll just end up expiring. Would essentially bring this down to $97.

SSDs do seem like the only place where Moore's law is still halfway working. I bought 4TB 7200 rpm NAS drives back in 2014 for $140. How much is a 4TB 7200 rpm NAS drive today, 11 years later? About $130.

If the first 30 years of computing and HDDs were still on track we should be seeing 12 TB NAS drives for $150 now. Every four years the capacity above should replace the capacity below it for about the same price. Assuming new capacities are still being released at the top end.

Funny you mention that Samsung was promising cheap 64TB and 128TB SSDs back in 2016. Maybe now that YMTC has joined the top 4 memory makers Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron and Kioxia with the latest tech we can make that a reality instead of milking the consumer for another decade with expensive, overpriced and low capacity 1,2,4,8TB drives.

I'm talking about the YMTC memory product, he was saying it was $50 in Shenzhen, then by the time it comes here, it's probably the same or even more in price, with or without tariffs.

So I figured why not upgrade it to a much better 2TB, and throw the 1TB into my old trusty HTPC that still has an ancient 256gb NVMe as the primary drive. Still though, I really didn't need this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyone knows about the performance compared to other SSDs or can recommend a good resource for me to check out?
I'm planning on buying the new Framework 13 laptop and want the fastest SSD I can get for a reasonable price. Secondary factors would be power consumption and longevity.
