The absolute best pens are the Uniball Jetstream. I write a LOT and my favorite pen is the Jetstream RT Medium 1.0mm Blue.

And believe me, I've tried them all.

Most of what I use a pen for nowadays is to sign my name, and rarely fill out short forms. I've never had good handwriting, and I've always used free pens - almost always ballpoint.
Long story short, one of those free pens was a 0.5mm Pilot G2 that's continued hanging around the kitchen table for several years now. I've discovered that I can actually write well with it. Every time one of these posts comes up, I've contemplated getting into the "buying pens" hobby ... but to what end?
So, after seeing reviews like yours, I decided this very morning to splurge $4 on this:
https://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Ene...B0047CP6YW
I'd prefer a non-ballpoint to be capped, but hopefully $4 scratches that itch. In my pocket(s), I will continue carrying a Zebra F301 that has never leaked (or been crushed.)

Uniball Jetstream and Pentel EnerGel are tied for my top favorite inks. My only problem with the Jetstream is that the ink reservoir is really small, so the pens don't last that long. The EnerGel lasts much longer, but it doesn't write as nice as the Jetstream. Part of the reason why I prefer finer tips (0.7mm and 0.5mm) is because they use less ink and last longer.

Considering you have a drawer full of them, you understand that pain all too well!

Pentel EnerGel is a really nice writing ink and it will definitely scratch that itch really well.

If you're looking for an upgrade to the Zebra F301, you should consider checking out the Zebra F701. It's a full metal version with no plastic bits. With a little modification, you can even fit a Fisher Space Pen refill inside.

They work fine for me initially, but then they start to skip if they sit for awhile after the plastic seal has been removed from the end. Apparently the gel dries out in the tip.

I bought these before from a similar deal, and actually returned them because they smear, which I hate. Can anyone recommend good pens that won't smear?
