Bought one of these on an earlier deal, like it. I have a wide desk with the CPU out of reach, so this eliminates the "crouch and strain" when I want to hook up a USB flash drive or portable HDD.

This brand is bad quality. Bought a USB hub One time, that did not work out the box. Glad I didn't buy any other more expensive products

Do you really need this? LOL
I have a very similar ACER one more meant as a mini laptop dock (also has SD card reader) for my desktop. I'd actually grab this one if it had an SD slot, the one I have is a bit jerry rigged on my desk.
Its honestly insanely useful to have a couple of USB A & C ports right there, especially if your computer isn't on your desk. If i quickly need to plug in a random device or want to dump something from an SD card, I don't need to get up to do it. Takes up no space, one wire to route, etc. Even has an HDMI port which has come in handy a few times troubleshooting and the like.

Don't buy crazy unused Chinese brand usb nonsense. The worst case scenario is not that it doesn't work - it's that it will brick your entire motherboard's usb chipset if it lets too much juice slide the wrong way.
orico is chinese for sure but it's not a "crazy" brand at all, they're just new to amazon really

All these influencer reviews and not one that explains the power output breakdown. I doubt any of them even know their BC from their PD.

Edit: Not only does the Orico web site not list amperage, but their high res photos actually have the adjustable screw blocking the text that reads it on the device!

SMH. Pass.

Its pretty old, its just that it got hit by the ban wave on this site many brands on amazon did for review/promotion rigging.

in a way it's sorta sad as we lost 2 or 3 pretty decent "alternative known good quality" brands to anker this way IIRC (ravpower? aukey? I think there was another) and never really gained back the competition

but then also not sad because screw them for the dishonesty

I dont think that I have seen power distribution stats published too often on USB hubs. This isnt a charger.

That's what BC 1.2 is for. And most hubs do in specs.

Heck, this one does too. Orico just stupidly covered it in the photos with the tightening screw.

Many devices now need more than 500 mA of power while transferring data.

No, it's not a charger. That makes it more important.

I haven't seen anyone talk about BC for about a decade now.
