I used to frequently buy their shoes and often bought them for my kids as well. However, in recent years, the All Star series has mostly been made in Vietnam, and the fit and style just don't seem as good or comfortable as when they were made in China. This has made me less enthusiastic about the series, and I hope it's just my imagination. That said, I still decided to give them one last chance and ordered a pair of Chuck Taylor high tops last week.
I find their sizing can not be consistent.

Also, while not quite "fast fashion" my sense if people buy new styles more often so making them to last in a way doesn't make sense.

I'm not suggesting I agree w/ that. it's simply an observation.

Thx OP. I hope they're a bit more purple-y in person but they're returnable so there's that.

Yep…which is exactly why, despite a generation growing up on Captain Planet, the environment is worse off then ever before.

Wore converse my entire life. Unfortunately, it's to the point that a new pair will start falling apart in less then a month. My last pair, bought from Converse website, actually had the sole seperate itself and the shoe, like the shoe has a mouth now. I've had to move on from the classics, and have found solace in their padded versions made elseware.

It's usually the opposite.... Items manufactured in South Asian are better quality than items from China.

Is there a reason why their logo is on the inside facing ankle for most of their shoes?

This has ALWAYS been the case with Chucks.

Converse is surprisingly popular with the kids these days. My daughter asked for a pair (she has several now), and I was like - they're still around?
I bought a pair to be a "cool dad" and match her. Really only use them when I ride motorcycles, as the top fabric/pleather and thicker bottom part tends to be more tolerant to shifting and rear braking than other budget shoes.
Probably a good time to buy before tariffs take effect.
