Don't buy this, motherboard is really bad, Junk. VRM trash tier. 5+2+2, Discreet Mosfet, Not using power stages.

Lowest of the low. These boards blow up easily, and the deal gets even worse if you add replacement cost and labor
it's true if you try to put a 16 core cpu in this. it's good enough to handle 9600x
Perfect for a boot drive. Stop spreading terrible information.

Kinda meh MB and a marginal 500GB M.2 SSD. Unless you REALLY wanted the monster hunter games, I'd say pay a little extra for a 7700x from MC* or similar I'd think.

*Yes, not everyone has a nearby Microcenter. Those that do though, MC has a $300 9600x combo, but with ASUS Prime mATX MB (not much better than the GB Gaming MB?) and only 16GB ddr5. Or $340 for same with ASUS Tuf MB. Also 7600x for $20 less and 7700x combos for $100 more.

...At this point I'm not sure if I should wait for the Micro Center in Santa Clara to eventually open; I've been eyeing their $400 7700X bundle for a while now
How does this deal compare to the bundles Micro Center offers?
I think the MC bundles are a smidge better overall, but you still might not be able to get the exact component selection you want (only 16GB mem with MC X600x bundles, and not that much better of a MB without upgrading). If you wanted / needed the 500GB SSD and game bundle, then likely the NE deal beats them out by a bit instead.

Is this bundle worth the extra ~$50 compared to the similar 7600X bundle from NE back in February? No game, but it came with a 1TB M.2. I've heard mixed things about AMD's 9000 series; like, they might not be that much better than the 7000 variants.

More importantly, what would make this NE bundle more tempting? A better mobo?

This is a great deal depending on what you are using it for. I wanted to get my aunt a new pc that would be low end but capable enough for her to do all of her basic things she needs to do while remaining future proof for a long time as her computer can't support Windows 11 and it's like 10+ years old. She likely isn't getting a GPU to start with so this is a great starter kit. If you plan on getting a big cpu in the future or a higher end graphics card this isn't for you, it's great for younger and older users who want something that works as stuffs expensives these days.
But getting a boot drive, 32gb of ram, a mobo and a modern cpu for 350 brand new is a great bundle if you are looking for a low budget new build. When every dollar counts arguing it's just x dollars more isn't always feasible. Just manage your expectations and if you do this seems like a great deal. Just install everything and boot it within the return period in case of a DOA.

hi levas, do you mind sharing more about "a higher end graphics card this isn't for you", please? (no money at the moment for a GPU and was thinking to get a 5080 on it when it's cheaper) Thanks!

I prob wouldn't go above a 70 class gpu with this mobo and I definitely wouldn't plan to overclock with a low end mobo like this. You are better served spending a bit more on a better mobo with a 5080 as the power needed could affect system stability. The mobo connects everything together and really is important. Also, a 9600x is gonna be bottlnecked more than I would like unless you're only at 4k. I would find a bundle that's a notch up on the cpu and mobo if you're thinking for a 5080. Hope that helps.

Performance wise, not much change with the 9000 series... While benchmarks can show 10% improvement in areas, I've heard as little as just a few % difference effectively. But they're still better and not much more expensive ($20+?). In particular, they have better power usage (less heat, less $ for electricity, etc.). For me personally, I'd rather NE got rid of the 500GB M.2 and game bundle to either lower the cost or improve the MB.

Yeah, I like the better TDP on the 9000 series, but the lower base clock compared to the 7000 series variant kinda sucks. Probably not a big deal, but it's noticeable (4.5GHz on the 7700X compared to 3.8GHz on the 9700X)

At least based on the current Micro Center offerings, hopefully the Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX v2 mobo is better than what NE is offering here

Anyone recommend a better mobo that won't break the bank? Maybe around the 200.00 range?

AsRock B850m Steel Legend for $180 on Amazon. If you don't care about Micro ATX form factor there are even more choices for B850 boards.

i sold this motherboard for $110 to someone just because its not good for 7800x3d but its still okay for Ryzen 5 9600x or 7600x cpu.

Why would you upgrade the motherboard for a 5700x3D? The whole point is to do a drop in replacement. Might as well get AM5 if you need to do a new MB.

What isn't good about this motherboard and 7800x3D? Do you know the symptoms? That cpu only pulls 80W at full tilt, and usually 60W while gaming.
