Apparently everyone else has car vents made of adamantium, mine can't handle the weight of a phone without deflecting or breaking.
But the fact that these have been around so long (plus suction cups and beanbags) is a pretty obvious sign the car industry is missing out on an obvious feature of a universal mounting point.

If you are gentle it actually works well. But if you are not, don't get this. Broken one of mine already so not buying anymore of these.
Switched to the dash mount type and has been solid and worry free.
The perfect way to snap a vent blade. The weight of the phone and the bumps in the road was the problem. I've done it twice with a Honda and Toyota Tacoma, and use the window suction type phone holders now. No more broken vents.
