I had the WORST experience with Samyang customer service. I would NEVER buy anything from them directly again. They sat on my refund for more than 60 days. If the prices are reasonably close I'd buy it from Amazon. I'm normally pretty forgiving and flexible when I have a bad experience but these guys were terrible.

However, it is 2 weeks away from 50%+ price increase on Chinese lenses, Samyang would most likely become greatest bang of bucks.
I tried greentoe samyang rokinon recently, not this lens though, and i didn't get better price than samyang website. I got one openbox from ebay pro seller who has multiple.

South Korea is supposed to get hit with 25% but who knows what'll happen

How is this comment even relevant? Most lenses aren't made in China anyways so it won't matter. Besides, as much as I like some Samyang/Rokinon lenses, their zoom lenses are just not up to par with other brands. Tamron's 35-150 is miles better than this one.

Most lenses are made in China, cellphone lenses, drone lenses and then camera lenses. Cellphone lenses making leads to great leap in quality of Chinese lenses, many most popular camera lenses are made in China, such as SONY 40mm 2.5G, Tamron 28-75mm, most Nikon and fuji lenses. Viltrox lenses dominate aps-c rankings, and is nearing SONY first gen GM in FF with LAB series. LAOWA makes lenses for special purposes and has monopoly in many kinds. Yongnuo has its $250 85mm lens at 5th place in DXOmark all lens rankings for many years
Tamron 35-150mm is also not miles better, it has better corner sharpness on 35mm, hardly easier upgrading(you need special usbc cable), and better warranty. Due to unavoidable decentering in zoom lenses, luck decides overall sharpness of your copy. And per user ratings, tamron users have better chances for a satisfactory one. Are they worth $400-500? I think not, especially for amateurs.

NIkon Z lenses country of mfg with a bit more produced in Thailand, then Japan and China. The move away from China mfg for many companies is being accelerated. Apple's new iPhone 16e is moving to Brazil, my iPhone's 13 and SE3 are both made in India. The iPhone 16 is made in India. Most Fuji lenses (and certainly the bodies) are made in Japan, a few in Philippines and China. https://nikonrumors.com/2024/10/0...xzqn.aspx/

That is nikon skus not sales numbers. From map camera, a Japanese retailer, sales ranking in 2024 for lenses
Nikon 24-120mm(Thailand)
Tamron 28-200mm III (China or Japan, probably China)
Sony 24-70mm GM II (Thailand)
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 (China or Japan, probably China)
Fujifilm 16-50mm (China or Thailand)
Nikon Z 28-400mm (China)
Canon 100-400mm IS USM (Taiwan)
Nikon Z 180-600mm (China)
Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM (Malaysia)
Sony 70-200mm GM II (Japan)
Your apple relocation argument is very laughable. American market for cellphone is not super huge in the world. Apple can allocate its small share of non-China fabs for USA.
Your fuji claim is baseless. https://www.fujirumors.com/cined-...-and-more/
"quality of made in China or Japan is the same"
"Fujifilm has biggest capacty in China"

best you reread as I mentioned nothing about sales numbers. As a fyi, my son in lawl is an Apple engineer in Cupertino and they are quickly and quietly moving away from China. I don't know any details as he's black security level. Any upper level knows Apple employee knows what that level is. Cook knows China is a dead end.

Yes, sure, but foxconn has significant investment only in India, worlds second largest market where there's less competition from China(3 that have local production). Your moving away has no publicly known funding, and Chinese phone brands turned pages in all major markets except India, NA, EU, Japan, basically India and places where apple and Samsung sell via carriers for much less than MSRP.

And yet you fail to mention where the Tamron 35-150 is made which is what this Samyang lens is competing with. Tell me, where is that one made again?
So if South Korea is going to have a 25% tariff implemented on their exports and the prices of Samyang/rokinon lenses are also going to be increased, is it still a better value than the Tamron. Nope.

Somehow you think that numbers from a Japanese retailer would be a good representation of global sales but we'll go along with this list anyways.
3/5 lenses you mentioned is "made in China" or "probably China" are actually made elsewhere.
Tamron 28-200 RXD III is made in Vietnam (source: I have this lens) + it's been confirmed they moved the main production of this to Vietnam
Tamron 28-75 G2 is made in Japan (I also have this lens). Pretty sure it says made in Japan on my lens.
Fujifilm 16-50mm is made in Japan. I also have this lens on my X-M5.
Also the article you linked is for the X100VI which doesn't even have a detachable lens so idk why you even linked this article. It's totally irrelevant and you're taking those comments out of context.
You are right about those Nikon lenses though. I know they produce a lot in China.
So lets see here.. 2/10 lenses in made in China.. and they are in the bottom half of the list. So tell me again, where are lenses mostly produced?
Also who is the largest lens producer in the world and where do they make the lenses? Pretty sure it's not China.

Tamron produce lenses in 3 countries, your lens made in vietnam or japan doesn't mean they are all made there. What I understand is that Japan makes 35-150mm and newer zooms, the rest are mostly made in China and Vietnam, China has biggest share. https://www.lenstip.com/409.3-Len...ation.html
Says their copy is made in China. The interview is on the occasion of that camera release, but question is about fuji as a whole. In recent Northrops reaction to trade war, they put China and Japan behind fuji, too. https://digitalcamera-support-en....ySyAAI&wd=
Also their official reply, no 16-50mm.

I'm still waiting for a source of your information. How do you know they're mostly made in China? Can you find proof that there are these lenses marked with "made in China" on the box? You keep saying that but you have no visible proof.
I have never seen any in any store/picture in my entire life. All the lenses I've bought from Tamron were made in Japan or Vietnam. All the sony lenses I've bought are made in Thailand or Japan. You keep pulling information out of your ass because you think China makes everything, but they don't.

This 3000 worker fab makes lens caps right?
To compare, samyang hires less than 200 from company registration, 150 according to wiki.
