I wish I had one to open up. I doubt these are potted. A 4-port like this should be potted to dissipate heat.

I've bought many multi-port chargers almost identical to this from Aliexpress over the years just to dissect them for parts. They are always fraud.

My experience tells me it probably can't do 40W out and it's just fraud.

If it actually does 40W, it's probably a fire hazard.

Bought them during the last sale. Very weak charging power. Would not buy again or recommend. Left them at work for community use hoping that someone will steal it.

Air does not conduct heat very well. So if there is a lot of static airspace around the components in this, the power components run hotter since they are in a tiny box with a bunch of hot air. So you have hot components, in a tiny sealed box, with a bunch of trapped hot air. Alternatively, heat transfers between solid matter that is directly in contact with eachother much better than solid to air.

Potting basically means dunking/embedding components in some sort epoxy/resin/etc that is liquid but cures/solidifies into a non conductive solid that is directly in contact with the power components and the outer shell of the charger. This means that the heat transfers much quicker from the components, to the shell of the charger, which is then cooled passively by the air in your room.

Don't buy IMHO - Just searched the word fire in the reviews and found the following with a picture:

It caught fire. Burned a giant hole in my rug. Thank goodness I was home. Melted the whole thing.

I'm Surprised no one mentioned it yet. This is 2 20W ports not a single 40W

20W is not super fast charging for Samsung so this is just a normal charger that chargers about as fast as the average battery pack

Bought this last time and tested it extensively. 40w is real with 20w max on both usb C and A side. USB A side is 10W each port with 5v/2a. USB C side is 20w/9v/2.2A if only 1 port connected and drop to the same 5v/2a when both ports are connected. Gets hot when at 40w but I wouldn't call it fire hazard. For me I mostly need USB C and max 20w USB C kill the deal for me so I returned the unit. Hope this info helps!

I bought the last round and found it's ok, except a loose connection of usb c. Not sure what the "spotted" means for heat emission.

Got a similar one, it didn't output anywhere near 20w, wouldn't charge my stuff. So I connected a laptop charger instead. Laptop chargers on Amazon are around $8 & give true 20, 35, 40 watts.
