Isn't 50mg an insane amount?

When someone is sick I take the 50mg pill and try to slice off like 5mg and even that is impossible

The upper intake daily limit is apparently around 40mg, but many people take more for multiple reasons and perhaps not daily. Hard to know how much ultimately gets absorbed from such supplements especially if they are not chelated, microencapsulated, etc. Quite possible that one could develop zinc toxicity or deplete copper if they took this dose daily without a deficiency.

Even 30MG is double of what should be consumed on a daily basis. 15MG is the correct dosage for MOST adults.

Def an insane amount however there are ways to supplement cautiously. . i.e. pill splitting. . cycling off for 2 weeks etc. .

Yes although zinc is good for the immune system, too much zinc actually inhibits the immune system.

YES!!

40mg is the upper limit for an adult. Taking to much can have negative effects.

Truly, people need to read the labels on their bottles. Lol. These pills are not 50mg of Zinc, they are 50mg of Zinc glucconate. Zinc glucconate is roughly 14% zinc meaning a single caplet of these very common over the counter supplements would be well below toxicity levels. You're looking at roughly 7mg of zinc if you take just one pill.

The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for adults is 8 mg/day for women and 11 mg/day for men.

The median intake from food in the United States is approximately 9 mg/day for women and 14 mg/day for men.

Even if the 50mg zinc gluconate supplement only has 7mg of zinc in it, you could go well above the RDA when taking the supplement along with a normal diet.

And as noted above, too much zinc actually impairs the immune system.

So unless you know you have low zinc levels, you may not need this. Just throwing it out there for those interested.

I take 1 of these daily and have been for several years along with Vitamin D and I had no issues and have not been ill in years. Can't say it's only the supplement but I can say that I have not had any visible negative issues with these.
