For gaming specifically I don't think anyone wants this particular processor. Think of this build as a $1500 GPU with a computer thrown in. Is the computer worth $750? Yup. Therein lies the deal.
You can't just drop that without explaining, haha.

I purchased 2 of these. I am 60 years old and have been building gaming PC's for a long time. I play COD 6 mostly and my f=wife plays RPG's. I am very pleased with the quality and speed of the ACT1250's R16's. The 5080 does a very good job with ultra. We only play on our 4k monitors so I can only compare those and I can say the processor is not an issue. I read it could be an issue with 1080P gaming but not an issue with 4k gaming on ultra.
The CPU's I went with were Ultra 7 265KF and 5080's for the GPU. I do limit my frame rate to 144 omitted COD warzone 4k and my watts are 200 (both CPU and Graphics card combined) CPU is in performance mode my graphics card temp is 56C and cpu temp is 80C the CPU utilization is 76% and GPU is 76%.
I do like the Alienware command center. It allows you to set the CPU speed and the mouse and keyboard settings as well as the lights for the keyboard, mouse, computer and monitor if they are all Alienware for each game. So when you launch the game you can have custom settings for each game!
Cinebench 23 multi is 32690 in balanced (not overclocked in any way) and 2114 in single again balanced .
Is it worth it to upgrade the ram to the 64gb ddr5 xmp and/or the processor to the 285k?
Don't necessarily mind paying more but I don't want to unslick the deal
No to both. You won't notice an iota of difference with the 285K versus the regular 285 other than benchmarks. As far as the Ram, it's cheaper to get aftermarket ram and it's the easiest upgrade you can make.
why? dont suck into the AMD hype if you are not getting it cheap. You are in the 99.0% consumers who will be fine with either of these high end processors
Between high power consumption and a lot of reliability issues the past couple generations.. I would beg to disagree. Having a 13900KS that has been the least reliable build I've had in 20 year I'm definitely going with AMD for the foreseeable future. Most hardcore gamers I know these days will only go with AMD and make fun of me for even owning intel..

because 13th and 14th gen were unrealiable with voltage issue which should be already addressed for everybody. I have not heard anything wrong other than lower performance in ultra series 1. I am a buyer as well, getting this. There are other builds available in market, but they dont appeal me personally. The biggest tech reviewers will only recommend AMD if its cheaper than intel. At the same price point and performance, they will not side with anyone. All of them are the same
Edit: The new intel processors are on tsmc 3nm and amds' are still on 4nm. Intel desktop processors are more efficient than amd atleast for this generation. Check for youself, dont believe the strangers

Is this better than the last Alienware at the $2300?
It's pretty good if you don't mind the extra $200, you get an upgraded processor, 32GB RAM vs 16GB and liquid cooling vs stock cooler. Also, popular cashback site is at 12% for Dell right now.

It may be built on a 3nm process but Intel Ultra 9 is definitely far more power hungry compared to AMD processors this gen fyi....
There's some really good reviews on youtube like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n537Z7pJug that go into more detail.
Highly recommend watching these. If your main use case is gaming, AMD still outperforms and is more efficient.

The intel cpu is bothersome. I definitely prefer amd but at this price..... I don't know. Lol
I believe we could add extra ssd nvme in this setup too. 1tb is nowhere enough storage
