I got it for $1925 (including tax) through Greentoe back in Oct 2023, when it was pretty new. Depending on your state tax rate, this is a similar deal.
I remember a few people said they got the a7CR for $2400 on Greentoe around then as well. Cheapest counter-offer I had was for $2500 including tax.

I love the form factor, less weight (0.3 lbs) compare to A7iv, better AF, better IBIS.
However, we sacrifice the flash sync speed, screen resolution, 1 SD card slot, no full size USB etc.
I bought it to replace my A7riva ... The A7riva is nice but I dont need the 61 megapixels.

I remember the head-to-head indoor low-light comparisons between the a7iv and the a7riii slightly favored the a7iv back in the day, so does the a7cii give inferior results in this regard?
Mind you, I'm far from unhappy with my older but still very good camera--but I do miss the portability of my a7c. I switched bodies to get back to the 42mp sensor, which I also had in my old a99ii. The bigger sensor was needed for cropping at the time. While I don't know I would ever go back to a 24mp FF sensor, I think the 33mp sensor is a good compromise in size.
It seems like it makes the most sense to bite the bullet and just spend more money on the a7cr if I want the best of both worlds, but I guess like most people on Slickdeals I do like to save money when I can.

If you need the megapixels though, just go for the a7cr. There is no substitute for that. If you don't need them, definitely go for this and spend the extra on some f/1.2 lens imo. Low-light performance only really increases substantially with a larger aperture, larger sensor, or new technologies, but I haven't heard of any breakthroughs lol
