Do people just enjoy digging on Nintendo?
It's been like that since the Game Cube days. "Nintendo is the kiddie console" and then around the Wii U era people say they should go software/third party only like SEGA and stop making consoles.
The new high prices for games is a real issue though and the haters are using that as a piggy back for other negativity on Nintendo. I am fine with the negativity in contrast to the hype because it potentially lowers issues with pre-ordering the system.

I agree MKs price is insane. I can get on board with that. It's the constant "no OLED lol" comments. Like where tf is that on every other product? ROG Ally X is sitting there at $800 with an equivalent screen (albeit smaller!) and no one cares

The ROG Ally and the Steam Deck are arguably on the niche category unlike consoles. They're not mass market, but you could argue Steam Deck is not niche. They sold 4 million +, which is borderline niche but a significant number for one single electronics device depending on someone's perspective. But a far cry from 150 million Switch sales. If the ROG Ally hardware was mass produced in the tens of millions (like, 70 million units similar to PSP totals) and sold like a first party console, the device would have probably started at $450 or $500 and eventually go lower in price from economies of scale. If the Switch 2 was sold like a PC handheld by a PC company like Asus/Gigabyte/Lenovo/MSI/Nvidia, the starting price would probably be $600 or $699.
I think the OLED thing is because LCD DOES look like crap but that's mostly from the older LCDs from ten years ago. modern LCDs with HDR capability that are better quality than those $300 TVs are quite something today. It's just the short minded conclusion that all LCD today is crap compared to OLED. I'll take the LCD 120hz Switch 2 but I am actually going to be enjoying OLED when it's docked!
Bundle does save you $30, but...
You need a new faster sd card, so add in another $30+, 256gb is $60.
New games are mostly $80....
Joycons are $95, pro controller $85...
Still thinking of trading my xbox series x for $420 and trying to preorder.

Yeah, your quantities of scale is why I mentioned products like the base iPad Samsung Tabs or MacBook Air as well. Lots of products are made without OLED screens that I don't see getting hate like this

$499 plus tax. going to be around $547.50 depending on what tax you get from your state. I got two pro controllers from my Switch 1, I can live without that $85 C button. I got 4 pairs of joycons from the Switch 1. I don't need a 2nd pair of Switch 2 joycons.
A lot of people have been saying they'll stick to using the built in 256GB until the express cards get cheaper. A lot of the 512GB and 1TB express cards are sold out by the way (that's not a good thing as it's a possible indicator of higher disposable income people are going to gobble up Switch 2 preorders).
Yes, new games at $80 sucks. I'll live off the bundled Mario kart that is $50 only if you can get a bundled console at launch. then I'll upgrade my ToTK switch 1 copy to the Switch 2 version for $20 while I work on my huge backlog of games for Switch 1.
The 256GB may not be great for some that want to move over their entire library of Switch 1 games to the Switch 2, but I think Nintendo sees that not everyone will have the express SD cards so it looks like they'll allow libraries of games to work on both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 even after an account transfer rights of those digital games. So, if those Switch 1 games benefit from running better on the Switch 2, then it would only be those games worth installing on the system built in storage space.
Not going to lie. I agree that the total cost can balloon up at launch depending on what additional things you buy. But there are work arounds and you can play on the Switch 2 at the minimum of not buying anything else. I'm still debating on those new ToTK amiibos but $30 a pop means it's $120 for all four >_< .
In fact, you might wait until the Switch 2 is out, and then pick up a used one on eBay, since a lot of people will be selling theirs around then after transferring their data to a Swich 2.
If you're interested in playing the future games, including Pokemon games beyond Z-A, the Switch 2 is the better choice. It will play almost all Switch games better (including all Pokemon games), and it will play future games not available on Switch 1. Pokemon games in particular have struggled with performance issues and bugs on the Switch 1, to the point where many consider them unplayable. For the Switch 2, the recent Pokemon games are getting updates that will significantly boost performance and visual quality.

Have 8bitdo Pro controller, it works great and no need to replace.
Feel like I'm going to play mostly switch 1 games on switch 2.
It was similar when I got a ps5 at launch, made do with ps4 games with better performance until better games came out.
Even now, still mostly playing ps4 games.
