Vote with your wallet. Buy it if you think what Nintendo is doing is okay, if this is how you want to be treated; the choice is yours.

That's fair - I'm hoping the thread is helpful though for those trying to get ahold of one and not have to pay over retail on any marketplace.

I saw an interesting Youtuber's take on the Switch 2. He said this console is meant for 3 types. Developers, Youtube Content Creators, and Nintendo Stock Investors. Personally, I would have added a 4th type. The ones with money to burn and consider this a status symbol. Just remember, back in the day, Wii U Pre-Orderss also sold out.

a status symbol? It's $400. What's next, socks?

I can play switch games for free on my steam deck with an emulator. The new mariokart will eventually be available at some point. It's not your job to defend Nintendo on the internet to strangers. Ppl can have different opinions than you.
I agree that Switch 1 games are playable on PC, and sometimes to a greater extent, even better than current performance. But unless there is some major hack out there similar to what happened with the first Switch, I honestly don't see Switch 2 games being emulated for at least a few years.

It's your prerogative to wait till then or buy now.

Are these $400 socks you're suggesting in the room with you? I think what the original comment was saying that having the next big new thing tends to be something that is touted. Whether it's $400 is irrelevant. It's shiny, it's new, and just like Apple fanboys do to those that decide to keep their older models, I'm sure there will be console diehards that get snobby about people using the older Switch once this releases.

When they put an OLED model a year from now for $50 more, you'll be singing a different tune

no OLED, no sale
Why are listings on the Rog Ally X not filled with comments like this? It's insane the double standard for these things. Macbook Air? Nothing like this. iPads? Galaxy Tab S8/S9? Sure there are mentions but it's not so contentious and 100 upvotes.

Do people just enjoy digging on Nintendo?

Damn, I thought SlickDeals people were high-information consumers. These comments have proven otherwise, it's like I'm on Reddit.
Same feeling I'm having. If youre not buying it now then just move along. My Switch 1 has brought me incredible value over the last 8 years. I regularly get games for $30-$40 that give me and my kids 50+ hours of play out of them, and since I buy physical copies they retain at least 75% of their value if I ever did want to sell them.

People are seriously pissed off that the system costs like $50 more than they thought it should and SOME games are $10 more than expected. Ok?? Grow up.

Good luck to whoever's preordering . I imagine you're going to have to compete with a ton of bots and resellers .

Switch one was innovative, different enough to justify it's asking price. This however, just feels like a cash grab. I don't see enough of an upgrade to justify spending this much money, add the price gouging on the new games.

That is why I like how best buy has a waiting room style online queue now.

Mario Kart World looks alright but not worth $80. No Zelda? No 3D Mario or Mario at all other then MK World. No new Splatoon? No new Mario Maker. They could of had other games announced for launch or near launch. For now there is nothing on Switch 2 that makes it worth a purchase. Mario Kart World isn't worth a $500 total purchase. Especially when an extra set of joycons is $95 and a Pro Controller is $85. Amiibo announced yesterday went up in price to $30 for Nintendo Amiibo's. 3rd party ones like Street Fighter 6 went up to $40. There is nothing right not to justify the price. Especially when all the other third party games will be available on PC or other Consoles.

You had a great mom. If more moms today did this with gen Z and Gen alpha, we wouldn't have nearly the same level of entitlement and selfish behavior we do now

With three major retailers going live all at the same time its gonna be a *&^% show. Target in particular has zero bot protection so it will be hard to get one from there. Walmart might be the same but they usually have a large inventory compared to the rest.
