Vote with your wallet. Buy it if you think what Nintendo is doing is okay, if this is how you want to be treated; the choice is yours.

That's fair - I'm hoping the thread is helpful though for those trying to get ahold of one and not have to pay over retail on any marketplace.

The physical version of Mario Kart World will be $90.
Already stated, but you're incorrect.

As someone who's never owned a Switch and just wants to play Pokemon, should I buy this over a Switch Lite?
At this point, you may want to just get the Switch emulator and game online.

We're back to the 90s again with N64 cartridge pricing... 🥲
Except you're not getting a cart filled with super expensive ROM memory like you did back in the 90s.

Always get the first release and never update the firmware. Can't wait to Mod it.

If it can't be modded, I don't want it.
The only reason I bought my launch switch was because of the modding scene. Im right there with you.

I understand people wanting to play Mario and Zelda, but this console is priced right in-between a digital and physical ps5. Thats a hard sell, especially with the pricing trend of AAA games on the device.

Totally NOT worth it at all. Slap in the face to everyone who owns a switch oled and is upgrading to this garbage display. Game price point is also a joke, and the random empty game cards for specific games is a joke. I'll do what I did with my oled switch, wait a few years for the good one to release and by then it will be cheaper, then hack the hell out of it because F Nintendo. They've gotten greedy.
Nintendo doesn't want you buying their system just to pirate the games like a child anyways. Good riddance for them.

They'll charge you when it actually ships. In the past, Walmart gift cards have triggered amex deals. I bout a $100 Walmart gift card that I hope to use with a Switch 2 pre-order. Worst case, I use the $100 gift card in a physical store for something else, and am not tied down to Walmart.com.

Brother...the struggle is hard, no doubt. I'm thankful I'm old enough to have realized some time ago that arguing about taste and preferences is a complete waste of time. What is worth a lot to me can be worthless to others. And vice versa.
To each their own.
Live and let live.
Everyone can make their own choices, and the choices of the vendors will live or die by how well they satisfy demand. This might not be the BEST way, but it's the best way we've found to choose what is worthy of continuing and what is not.
If I ONLY get to play Metroid 4 on this system, it will be worth the cost to me. Anything on top of that is gravy to ME. If you need more, wait for more - I sincerely hope you get it! If you think that attitude makes me dumb/stupid/naive/smart/practical, or anything else, that's ok with me. I'm doing what I want, and I'm good with the consequences. You do YOU. Let us do US. Everyone's math is not the same.
Be well, get outside and live in the real world. Find your Zen. Then go enjoy your new, or old Switch 1 or 2, Steam Deck, or whatever else helps you enjoy your free time. I'll do the same.
Best to you all.

9pm PT is an odd time to start.
I spoke with my local GameStop and they said preorders will be available as soon as they open on the 24th!

I've been reading that these should be easy to get. A lot have been produced, demand is down, and we are heading into a recession. The Switch 2 looks like its going to be a repeat of the Wii U. Where Nintendo had to make price cuts to sell units due to poor sales in the beginning. It's so weird for them to release a console in June. Parents are heavily spending near Christmas for gifts.
Nintendo said they had 1 million in storage, but with scalpers those could go fast!

Found this:The Nintendo Switch 2 will not have an OLED screen. Nintendo has confirmed that after considerable deliberation, they chose to use an advanced LCD screen instead. While OLED displays offer superior contrast and color, the selected LCD provides HDR support, a feature absent in the original Switch OLED model. The new LCD also boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen and a higher 1080p resolution compared to its predecessors.

It's all fine if their intent is to prevent you from having a similar or same bad experience they got. But it's another thing where you justify your purchase or defend your reason for purchasing and they now consider/call you a shill or Nintendrone laugh out loud. There are quite a lot of anti Nintendo people out there that are angry. Beware of the hardcore keyboard warriors who don't go out enough to touch grass
