After seeing a post for Zero Hour, a squad game that unfortunately requires a network connection, even for singleplayer, I decided to look up SWAT 4, as it is still held up as the gold standard.

Turns out, it's on sale! $4.99 on GoG for two more days.

To be clear, I haven't played it yet, but I looked up some gameplay videos earlier, and RoN is VERY clearly inspired by it, so it seems like anyone who enjoyed that might find something to enjoy here, and based on the way people appear to rave about it, hopefully a more fulfilling gameplay experience.

For Deck players such as myself, guides are available to get it running. It appears to be a relatively easy process for anyone who has ever had to run a non-steam game on Deck before. For controls, which look very dense for any controller, reliable community layouts allegedly exist. One guide I read recommends user skatebakethreash's layout, but of course, use at your own peril if you decide to try.

And it has offline play, as God intended.
