He's responding to another poster who tried to compare NOW Foods to New World Nutritionals which was a scam company that sold cheap protein that turned out to be some weird mystery powder after people on reddit sent it in for testing.
That mystery powder was Meltodrextin. He imported massive amounts from China.

are you talking about NOW foods? they are very reputable. you can see on their site (or request, they'll send them) literally a half dozen 3rd party lab tests for everything they sell. the only issue with NOW is that their stuff is packaged here (USA) but is sourced from China...
Not ALL of their stuff is sourced in China. I verified with NOW that this protein is sourced in the US.

it absolutely 100% is not. it's packaged here, it's tested here, but the source is mainland china. if they told you otherwise the person you spoke with is either lying or (more probably) misinformed. their official stance is that their stuff is "globally sourced" and go out of their way to mention that it's impossible to exclude china from that source list

What's your source that their whey is a Chinese product? I don't see anything on that page that says that.

I'm sure the fillers/flavorings are but I don't think China produces much whey.

It's difficult to describe. A lot of people say it tastes like pancake batter or something similar. If you haven't tried it before buying a 10lb bag might not be a good idea.

NOW20 and 20SMS also apply to the smaller sizes and chocolate/vanilla flavors as well if that's more convenient. Just make sure it's the isolate version and not the concentrate because the packaging looks almost identical.

Unflavored whey protein has no added flavors, but it still has a distinct taste. I think it tastes similar to skim milk.

long time distributor source. yeah they don't mention sources anywhere other than that link i provided eariler. it's an american company, but almost everything they sell is manufactured in china. not all of it, but the vast majority. for some of their products, like xylitol, it IS 100% made in china. i don't know what the specific split is with whey isolate, but it's not zero, let's put it that way, and none of it is sourced in the US. there's another supplement company, Doctor's Best, that has a very similar model (although those guys were outright bought by a chinese company not long ago)

let's put it another way. if it's made in USA, would they not shout this from the rooftops? it's a huge selling point for all of these manufacturers

but again i stress there's nothing wrong with this and it's a great deal, it's just worth noting. or maybe not even worth noting. the bigger (far bigger) issue as it pertains to this deal is those ba$t@rds at vitacost illegally charging sales tax on it (and apparently canceling orders)

it depends on the manufacturer and after literally a decade or more of using unflavored whey protein isolate exclusively i still to this day have no idea why that is. my experience (from memory):

allmax - a subtle creamy taste
myprotein - like chalk dipped in water
NOW - tastes like pus. sorry...still, if the price is right...
bulk supps - also creamy, but less bold
naked - creamy, but also chalky
true nutrition - maybe the best of the bunch but man it's expensive
isopure - also very good as i recall

keep in mind the flavor profiles will change wildly based on the milk you mix it with. whole milk = more creamy, skim milk if you like chalk with 1% and 2% falling in between

Already tried from two of my regular cash back sites. Both zero as it says right in the terms.
Personally, since all the cash back sites I use say coupon codes not from their site voids cash back, I always relook it up everywhere instead of just going to one cashback site, clicking through, and sometimes getting it anyway.

I called them. Here is exactly what I put in my notes:

NOW Foods - Cust service told me on 6/20/22 that all their supplements are manufactured in the US. All their whey is sourced from cows in Wisconsin. All others will vary by supplement.

Of course things could have changed but people shouldn't be saying that ALL their products are sourced in China without knowing for a fact. Some things simply can't be sourced in the US. It's just a fact of the times.

I ordered deal on 4/11. Canceled. Multiple calls and chats with CS. Reordered next sale weekend at lower discount. Canceled. Ordered on this sale. Canceled. Latest orders now in limbo (expecting cancel). Claim OOS while website continues to push product claiming in stock.

4 calls, multiple chats to CS. One detailed request to email support.

I have submitted a formal complaint to the BBB. Waiting. Everyone can post a review on BBB site.

Our household ordered from Vitacost for years. Seems like deceptive biz practices now.

I'll update if I ever get an order filled. Has anyone?
I think once these automated fraud protections systems flag your account you're kind of screwed. Just went through a very similar experience trying to purchase a laptop off of walmart's site. Nearly a dozen cancelled orders and hours on the phone with CS.

Do you have a relative or friend nearby with a fresh account and different billing info you could try?
