I tried the lowe's stuff and it was terrible - huge pieces of wood, one was over 6 inches long... looked like a piece of baseboard

The Scotts mulch is ground much finer than other brands you may find in the 2 cu ft bags for the same price. Scotts mulch does a much better job at weed suppresion and breaking down to condition the soil. The larger pieces found in other brands allow light to the ground and seeds to germinate and grow easier. Pay a little more but it's worth it.

Would the weed barrier help with the weed suppression then mulch ontop?

I think it was supposed to expire yesterday. I'm on the fence and will buy if it's still live Saturday

This deal was posted in March also. At the time Lowe's was cheaper. Looks like Lowe's is same price now.

Dang it. Bought Lowe's because I didn't expect the HD price to come back down. Agree HD stuff is better with its finer mulch

I've used both and saw no measurable difference. Get the cheaper stuff.
