American Express has an offer to Receive Extra Membership Rewards Points for Amazon Purchases after enrolling in offer and using your eligible card at Amazon. Offer varies by account with several examples listed below.

  • Spend $25 at Amazon, Get 500 MR (Up to 1,500 MR Total)
  • Spend $50 at Amazon, Get 500 MR (Up to 1,500 MR Total)
  • Spend $150 at Amazon, Get 1,200 MR (Up to 3,600 MR Total)

Offer Details:
  • Online purchases must be made at Amazon.com by 6/25/2025
  • Enrollment is limited. Eligible Card Members must first add offer to Card by going to the American Express website or Amex mobile app and navigating to the offers section for their card, then use same Card for qualifying spend.
  • Offer valid online only at US website amazon.com or through the Amazon app.
  • Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US.
  • Additional Membership Rewards points should be credited to your program account within 90 days after 6/25/2025, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase.

I found a Reddit post from a similar deal a year or so ago that had the same terms. They reported it works with Amazon gift card reload and you don't need to do separate transactions. I just did $150 on my fiances companion card where she had the offer too. I had the $50 for 500 3 times. I'll report back with a data point if it gives me 1,500.

Same. So almost like $12 on $150 spend. Better to just use Amazon prime card with 5-6% back which amounts to direct cash rather than transferring/buying gift cards

I got 500 on $50 on my platinum , gold, and business gold. Thanks op. Interested if Amazon gift card would work as well. I assume as long as charge says Amazon it would work.

darn nothing for my plat/gold/everyday but i did find a "Earn 500 additional Membership Rewards® points after using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $50" for amazon so thats pretty good ty

Terms just say "Excludes corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases."

So I'm assuming it will work on normal gift cards, as is normal with that wording above. Just been too lazy to actually purchase, but it should work.
