You have to pony up and buy genuine full leather. I have had good experiences with Paul Evans. Not cheap though.

I had a similar if not same pair from same brand, they were awful and cracked apart very quickly after light use.

This reminds me of when Payless played one of the best jokes ever, and renamed one of their stores Palessi and jacked up the prices and made people think they were name brands. They had all kinds of fashion "experts" show up and the "experts" were talking about how you could really see and feel the quality. They were talking up $20 shoes like they were $500 Prada shoes. They couldn't tell the difference. Hopefully that anecdote tells you that these are not too cheapo.
