Funnily my three cats do the same thing. Did they change the recipe?
Same thing with ours — their moods waiver w/ shreds & meaty-bits, compared with pate & filets.
I use a plastic fork to mash'up the bits & the fur duo then goes to work on it without issue.
{I presume the shreds/meaty-bits/filets/pate are analogous to reconstituted meat/protein that's formed/crafted with the starchy/gummy ingredients basically McD's chicken-nuggets & street-cart hot'dogs}
