TLDR: This seems sketchy, and no name/cheap probably is a risky gamble for a ladder.

I have a growing suspicion that Home Depot has become a stealthy marketplace for no name 3rd party sellers.
I can't find it disclosed anywhere on the page
But I would be a little wary of assuming this is legit just bc it's also "sold by Home Depot"
on HD:
new item.
0 reviews
1 month manufacturer warranty
no certifications

mismatched info in the Walmart listing. both 300 and 330 lb capacity.

for those who buy it, id be curious to see what official labels/certifications are on it.

sold under numerous "brand" names

same item on AliExpress as a no name ladder. (I don't think I'm allowed to directly link)

cheapy/sketch ladders is a pretty big risk. YMMV. maybe it's awesome.
but the OSHA inspector or worker's comp claim investigator might not be amused if/when someone gets hurt.
Indeed it is. You could even compare it unfavorably with https://www.homedepot.com/p/Werne.../309704163

Would this be useful for getting into an attic (no attic ladder) in an 8' ceiling?

Same thing, just a different brand. I got it for $89.99 + tax. On Mar 14, 2025. So, if you want to wait.

The Werner ladder you linked to here would be my personal choice. It isn't able to do the scaffold position alone. Correction: Eltory corrected my scaffold mistake with a video as well below in his reply. This ladder does indeed work as a scaffold as well! Thanks Eltory!
However, I've been using the Werner for a few days (borrowed from a neighbor) and I found it much more sturdy than I expected it to be when I first looked at it. I'm impressed with the Werner. After looking more closely at the reviews on the original posted ladder I was left feeling it was much more of a lightweight version. The Werner from HD is satisfyingly durable in my use. Hope this helps someone.

Sure! Just make sure the opening is over 24" and that you have sufficient height in the attic for the extra length.

I agree, the Werner ladder for $99 from HD is worth the extra $5 over this deal

It's been rock solid, and it feels really sturdy as well

I am not sure I follow the scaffold comment you made, you can actually take apart the ladder, and use it as a scaffolding. This vid shows how it's setup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tVI5yXmcA0

You are so right about the scaffold! I did not even realize that it could work like that. Thanks for sharing that very helpful info! 🙂 My store was out of stock so it should arrive shipped to the house today.

Yes. Please people. A ladder is NOT something to cheap out on. Ladders sold in big box stores from real brands are tested like crazy. Dont put your life in your hands to save $50
