"The 83-inch model shares a lot of similarities with the LG C4 OLED. It uses LG's Alpha 9 AI Processor Gen7, supports a 144Hz refresh rate, has three USB ports, and has a 2.2 channel speaker system, all of which are the same as the C4. Due to these shared features, we expect the 83-inch model to perform more in line with the C4. However, it doesn't have LG's Brightness Booster technology like the C4 does, so it isn't as bright overall."

They are similar - the C1 wins in specular highlights, while the B4 wins in sustained 25% window and larger due to less aggressive ABL.
This reflects positively on the B4 because the C1 is a higher tier at a higher price point. Still, it looks like changing from C1 to B4 is a side-grade.
They aren't comparable how you are trying to compare them, not just due to the different test benches, but also due to the fact that the 83" B4 is essentially a reskinned C4 (only the 83" size is like that) makes it even less so.
It will be a bigger upgrade than it appears on paper, however having owned quite a few OLEDs imo most people would only notice a big difference aka upgrade when moving at least 5 gens up with the B and C lines.
One quick question for the TV experts. Will this TV perform well, in a well lit room, with high windows, and the occasion direct sunlight on the TV?

My opinion is that no OLED will perform well with direct sunlight shining right on it. As long as that is during times you don't watch a ton of TV, it will prob be fine. This is prob in the top 5 OLED sets that would be best for your situation though. The only thing this doesn't have compared to the C4 is the brightness enhancer, which admittedly would be a plus for your situation. All OLEDs perform best in a dim room, unfortunate facts.
For those looking for every specific things from a TV - NO
It is that 95/5 lifestyle. The B series has jumped up incredibly but it's also just because OLEDs themselves are getting stagnant. A B2 ain't the same as a B4. Have fun with this!

OLEDs are not good fit for direct sunlight. Not only ruins the picture quality in the moment, but also degrades the panel faster.
You should look for a Mini LED, which excels in bright rooms, can handle direct sunlight better, and no risk of burn in.
The TCL QM8 85 inch on Amazon for $1800 is a great option for your use case.
Side note, I don't think the C4 is worth it over this 83 B4 with the same internals.
I saw the regular B4, C4, and G4 side by side at Best Buy. B4 & C4 are so close that most people would be better off saving their money and get the B4, or spend the extra on the G4 for a more substantial and noticeable upgrade. And for any other size besides 83, the Samsung S90D is another great option with QD-OLED (the 83 S90D is WOLED and inferior to LG)

Thanks for the commentary. Yeah my last upgrade was 65B6 to 83C1. 65B6 is sitting in my basement.
I might just hold off another year.

Imo the screen is way to big for competitive gaming where input lag would really be an issue, but for a TV it is great.
