that is the stupidest reason to get a less powerful device if the price is the same.
If they're around the same price, I'd cancel the 9600x and get this one. You can always tune this to draw less power, but you cannot tune the 9600x up if you need the performance in the future. 9900x effectively doubles the multicore performance, it's not even close. Also the mobo here is much, much better than the b650 plus. Even if you never use 9900x capabilities, eventually its the resale value will be higher.

SATA 6 in the description is describing the speed of the port, not # of ports. 6 Gigabits per second (Gbps or Gb/s).

It is only 2 (confirmed from here: https://www.asus.com/us/motherboa.../techspec/) which is a bummer for me too. Which means you need to put in a SATA/SAS expander for more storage, which will use up the only other PCIe slot (PCIEX16(G4)) after the main one (PCIEX16(G5)) is used for GPU.
And the M.2 slots also have weird configuratiosn: 2 of the 4 share either partial or all lanes with the above mentioned PCIe slots. So ensure you have adequate expansion for your needs.

I've been hoping for a non-7600x/9600x bundle from Newegg for a while now

Seems like this might be a better deal than Micro Center?

I've been eyeing their $400 9700X bundle but am still waiting on their Santa Clara store to open

Do I pull the trigger on this now for $100 more?

This at $497 or the microcenter bundle at $499 deal. Any thoughts b/w MSI X670E MAG Tomahawk WiFi and ASUS TUF GAMING X870-PLUS WIFI, thanks

CPU and RAM (I believe) are the same, so it just boils down to the X670E vs the X870. I think the X870 is newer and better, but double-check that.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to use my $100 Newegg gift card, but I decided to pull the trigger anyway
I haven't seen a non-7600X/9600X bundle offered on Newegg since I started looking around November of last year
And considering this matches Micro Center's 9900X bundle price? I'm sold. $100 for a better CPU and mobo, plus not having to wait for Micro Center Santa Clara to open + no special trip there / having to wait in line; who knows what the prices will be then either

They're similar. ASUS has better wifi, better audio card, and USB4 (40 gbps). MSI has a better VRM and more M.2 slots.

Guys, please research ASUS and their customer service issues before getting this bundle. Not saying not to buy it, but just be aware.

Not a great option, but if you are only using 1 or 2 M.2 slots you can get an M.2 to SATA adapter. Here's a Newegg Orico [newegg.com] for $26.

Is this better than some of the Microcenter bundles?

Also, I noticed that the CPU doesn't come with a cooler. I have a 10 yr old processor right now so I'm guessing this is the standard these days that CPU coolers are separate?

Usually the higher end CPUs, like the X models, don't have coolers with them. The stock coolers are barely going to be good enough, especially if someone overclocks it. All these people would be asking for warranty claims because the supplied cooler wasn't enough after they overclock the crap out of it.
Also this is about the same as Microcenter deals maybe a little better because I haven't seen the 9 in a deal yet. But I haven't been paying attention either

Same here on the Newegg gift card redemption. I think it's because of the free Uber gift card. Still a good deal, thanks OP.

Word! Asus today is not the Asus of the past… unfortunately. They have been having issues with some boards and if you look at the Newegg reviews the are not responding to customers complaints and reviews

Says Sorry, Page Not Found. Bad link, or, dead deal?

Never mind, it says this combo deal is no longer available, so I guess it sold out. Too bad.
