What's the consensus, this one or the M4 Pro, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD, I use a M3 Pro, 18GB RAM as a software developer at work, any improvement on with the M4 Pro?

From my experience there isn't much noticeable difference between M3 and M4. I would go for the bigger disk and more RAM.

The m4 MacBook pros have the option of coming with a "nano texture" (matte) display if you prefer that over glossy, and thunderbolt 5 vs thunderbolt 4 (120gbs vs 40gbs)

Nano texture is optional

Depends on what you are using it for.In my case I don't need the extra RAM but the extra storage is nice. I would go with the M4 Pro as it is newer and would last me longer. The M4 Pro upgrade includes better screen, webcam, slightly larger battery, faster SSD bandwidth, Thunderbolt 5, and of course raw CPU and GPU performance.24gb RAM is more than enough for my use case and I have an external Thunderbolt SSD for more storage.

How are the refurbished macbook pros, is it a gamble or a good idea, worth it to take the risk for 2tb or stick with 1tb brand new?

Any link for 2TB?

I am very happy with my 2020 Apple M1 13.3" 16GB RAM with 2TB HDD, which I got in 2021 refurbished directly from Apple and has been running great, I mostly do Photoshop/Lightroom and Video Editing (Wondershare Filmora, CapCut, trying DaVinci Resolve but the learning curve is steep). I am mostly happy with the M1, but perhaps a speed increase will help in my workflow?

Any suggestions/reasons to upgrade to newer M3/M4 Macs?

This is a good deal, but if you are going OK with a refurb, I just purchased a mint refurb 14" MacBook Pro 1TB, 24gb ram, 14c/20c gpu, for $1800. With 9 months left on the factory warranty. The performance jump in the M4 pro may be worth it
