Have owned one of these previously as my first enameled Dutch oven. Works as it should, quite heavy, great for stews/roasts/bread. Replaced mine last year due to a big chip in the enamel inside after 8 years of using it every other week. Accidentally left it on extra high when preheating, weakened the enamel. Take necessary care of it to protect the enamel (don't let it get too hot, don't use metal utensils) and it should last as long as any other Dutch oven in this price range. 6 qt is a good size for family of 4-8 cooking.

Sure, it isn't a Le Creuset or Staub, but for a normal family this is a very good price. Isn't made in the US, but it's at least an American company.

Yeah, their enamel stuff is unless it's the premium USA Enamel. Regular cast iron is all made in USA.

Is Mercer the same as Lodge? I haven't seen anything so far that confirms that.

The Lodge weighs a pound more, so no, they're not the same.

Worth noting that there are applications where thinner cast iron is preferred

Highly recommend the cuisinart dutch oven line, chef's classic enameled casserole. I got the 7qt for $70 a few years ago. Super durable and performs within range of my le creuset.

My Le Creuset chipped too after leaving it extra high to long on my induction range. Lesson learned.

I own this dutch oven, and love it. Used it for baking sourdough breads, deep frying chicken/fries/onion rings, as well as making one pot spaghetti. It's quite versatile.

I love mine as well, although I got it at TJ Maxx or somewhere similar over the holidays. Use it for bread, deep fry, and roasts. It's easier to clean and maintain than my regular non-enamel Lodge cast iron dutch oven, although I do season the rim and the outer edges of the lid after a wash since those aren't coated.

Bought this in a different shade of red in November 2017 for $40. There is a small chip on one of the handles, and gotta say, hubby is the cook, and he is not careful with things. Use it about twice a month.

In terms of sizing, 6qt has felt just barely sufficient to cook an entire package of chicken/beef in the sizes common at my local supermarket/Target. I wish it was a 7qt.

The documentation that came with mine mentioned that the outer edges are actually coated, just clear.
