Various Digital Retailers have Crying in H Mart: A Memoir (eBook) by Michelle Zauner on sale for $1.99 listed below.

Thanks to Deal Hunter phoinix for sharing this deal.

Available Retailers:About this Title:
  • Author: Michelle Zauner
  • Page Length: 239
  • In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular, high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.
  • As she grew up, moving to the East Coast for college, finding work in the restaurant industry, and performing gigs with her fledgling band--and meeting the man who would become her husband--her Koreanness began to feel ever more distant, even as she found the life she wanted to live. It was her mother's diagnosis of terminal cancer, when Michelle was twenty-five, that forced a reckoning with her identity and brought her to reclaim the gifts of taste, language, and history her mother had given her.

With such low prices and a pretty good food court, really it should not come to tears.

A tale as old as time. Daughter resents mother. Transcends racial boundaries.

Based on my real life story, maybe the author drove hundred miles to get to a "H Mart" and it ends up being "H Mart Express", I can see the author crying in H Mart .😭

It is a pretty good book. In my opinion I would say it probably got hyped a little at the time it came out, but if you miss your mom or want to explore difficult complex family relationship dynamics then this book is for you

One thing I would say is every author of an autobiography has the responsibility to thoughtfully balance telling their story and being accurate with not being overly burdensome to the reader. In other words, even if an authors life was hard or bad there is a limit to how much they can emotionally mentally take a dump inside others. Mike Tysons autobiography is somewhat similar in this regard; great book but at some point he became so negative so frequently that I had to put the book down

Similar with this book, eventually at some point around halfway I felt like there was far too much negative energy and not enough balance so I stopped. But overall a good read
For sure worth $2

Could always listen to the audiobook too, I'm pretty sure my library had it on Libby.

Read it and leave your review on goodreads then. Until then, you're just judging a book by it's cover..... literally
