Suggestions for chromebook under $400 with 16GB RAM

Would anyone have suggestions for a 14" or larger Chromebook with 16GB RAM for under $400? My daughter's 9 year old MacBook died, and she can't afford to get a new one, so she's thinking a Chromebook could work for a few years until she can get back into an Apple.

Buy a refurbished business laptop made by Dell or Lenovo off of dellrefurbished.com, dell outlet, ebay or similar. Or dust one off from your basement.

Then install Chrome OS to turn it into a chromebook if needed https://www.howtogeek.com/217659/...on-any-pc/

Aim for an 8th gen i5 processor or better and it will support Windows 11.

So many of the actual chromebooks have super low end CPUs (equivalent to a 10 yr old decent laptop), terrible screens, and super flimsy plastic / hinges.

A business class refurb is the way to go. Upgrade the ram if needed / possible (check specs, not upgradable on some)

To be honest with you, not sure how much benefit you really get on a Chromebook going from 8GB to 16GB...
