Best Buy is rebranding Magnolia
I have heard mixed stories about what that means and what they are going to carry in the stores versus online

They have removed the Magnolia signage from all the stores I have been in recently

Additionally..they seem to be blowing out their KEF R metas in SOME stores
I bought a pair of R5 metas, R3 metas and an R2 center for about 70% off MSRP
They were all store demos from the Magnolia showroom

The prices at the store are ringing up LOWER than the prices online
For instance, online the Kef R5 meta were priced at $1210 and they rang up at $605 ea in the store when I purchased
They have since lowered the online price...so I am not sure if that means there are even lower than what I paid
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/kef-...Id=6534454

They also seem to be blowing out some Bowers 600 and 700 series as well all their inwall, in ceiling speakers

This is a HUGE YMMV and some stores are not blowing them out...the display R7 and R11 metas seem to be already gone from these same stores
Check in your area for open box units online and DRIVE to the store

I have seen condition be from excellent to average. Check for missing plinths, condition of the speaker grille and terminals. These likely haven't been used/played much, but they have been handled/moved. So missing parts and physical damage is something you need to be aware of

I have attached the receipt for the R5 metas I bought on 4/2

I was in a store today and saw someone getting a heck of a deal on some Bowers and Wilkins 703 S3 in excellent condition for like $950 for a pair....$6000 MSRP for the pair
WTH? I picked up a pair today, but they were $755 per speaker, so $1500 give or take....missing 1 grill too Frown They sound pretty darn amazing though! Funny thing too....this store had some Switch 2s, so I picked up one as well, just because it was available. Thanks for all these postings!

I think I cleaned out the only remaining R5s in north/central jersey. $580 each. Also decided to bite on a white R2 with clearance pricing at $665. R2s everywhere are ringing up as clearance pricing instead of open box with audio bundle discount. This was the cheapest I could find.

Think I'll pick up a few in ceiling speakers to round out an atmos setup. Funny KEFs at most places are cleaned out meanwhile there's always a bunch of B&W and Martin Logans at most stores. Wonder why everyone is preferring the KEFs.
I saw a pair of white Kef r5s yesterday...marked fair online...but in the store they were excellent for $565/ea yesterday

I was temped...but I really need a pair of R3's..Walnut( not my favorite) is the only finish I see leftover that is not beat up and I saw a pair today $850
The same store had a beat up pair of R5's for $600/ea...though they are marked " good" online

I also saw something interesting in the Chicago area yesterday
One store had " restocked" their studio with some of the same stuff that was clearanced out...but the new stuff was not at clearance prices

I also noted that the new stuff did not include Kef in the showroom

For some reason the center channel...white R2's are the only thing I see left....are not discounted as highly

I picked a Marantz 40 and the left speaker was not working well. Contacted Marantz & they sent me to a local small repair shop. The guy at the repair shop said it is fixed. I picked it and tested it at home and now it won't even start! Is this a high end audio company? I have lots of doubts of any future warranty from Marantz!

Sure seems like they are ripping people of with their $3000+ equipment.

Luckily I am a Bestbuy plus member which gives me 2 mths to return otherwise I would lost a lot $$$s in buying Marantz products even though at 60% off retail.

My advice - get the Bestbuy extended warranty as Marantz warranty is a joke.

Marantz has a 5 year warranty

If they return it back and it's still broken you might ask them to replace it

I did that with a Marantz 7015 I owned
It came back from the repair center broken
I complained and they sent me a replacement unit

On another note
I am thoroughly satisfied with the Marantz cinema 30 I snagged for $1650

Lucky you - Marantz is asking me to send it back to the same repair shop!

I tried calling Marantz again and they said to send back to the service center. The service center has the authority to deem the replacement if they can't fix it.

You must be lucky to get a replacement unit.

This is bad customer service from Marantz!

All I can say is good luck to those who have bought the open box Marantz from Bestbuy.
With all these things happening - I am returning back the unit to Bestbuy and never to buy Marantz ever again.

Well...in my situation mine came back broken

My Marantz Cinema 30, that I bought last week, works like a dream

I dont disagree with you that Denon/Marantz customer service is not great
My whole Marantz receiver ordeal and replacement took about 6 weeks to resolve

On another note
I am certain that for the price those are going for at the clearance sale there will be more than a few people willing to go through the hassle of a warranty repair

You might disclose what store are returning it to....someone here that is close will rebuy that in minutes I bet

Marantz basically only does their warranty through dealers/repair centers, you don't work with them directly most of the time. I had an older marantz that failed under warranty too. Dropped it off at the shop, they couldn't fix it so they proccessed it with marantz and basically got a brand new unit shipped to me. Its a bit "old school" in how they do things and akin to vacuum cleaner dealers too.

They pretty much all work like that and have for years

If you are lucky you are reasonably close to Panurgy or United Radio , who are the two 10,000 lb gorillas on doing warranty work on audio devices .They can get things done faster including replacing your unit if needed

They also do the factory refurbishing work for those items that are often sold at Accessories 4 less

Online prices are now different than in-store prices so I wouldn't count on taking 50% off the open box price that you see online. The prices are higher in store and then after the 50% off, they're higher than what they were a few weeks ago.

Give some examples and let us know what day you noticed a change

In Illinois this week(Wednesday)...I saw some KEF R5s for $565..that is what they rang up
The price tag was $1381 /ea open box fair...And they were in excellent condition to boot

Still kicking myself a little on these...but dont need them ..LOL

In Indiana yesterday..I checked the price on some walnut R3's...$850 is what they rang up..Price tag was like $1881 (open box good condition)
These are the ones I need. I dont like that finish but the only store I have seen black ones left over had chips knocked out of them and one was missing the grill as well

AVR's seem to be a little cheaper even though the open box price has moved up on say the Denon X4800

This Wednesday an open box " fair" condition Denon X4800 rang up for $980
It was actually in excellent condition and had all of the accessories still wrapped in plastic
You have to love best Buy open box descriptions
This was same store I bought the Marantz Cinema 30 at.
I actually was in the area again and buddy wanted me to snag the Cinema 40 for him..it was gone earlier that day they told me
I bought the Denon X4800 for him

Other than that the store was wiped pretty clean

Dunno which day the prices changed, but Best Buy usually updates their online prices at 1AM on Monday

I needed another pair of 704 S3's for my rear surrounds so I went to the store to grab them, assuming they were 50% off the online open box price (as usual). But they rang up $1300 minus 50% off instead of $815 minus 50% off which is what happened before. The nice manager adjusted it for me because I think he wanted to get rid of them. I think I am calling this deal dead now, especially since all the stores are cleared out and because of this pricing difference that was pretty much YMMV.
