Purchased one of these from Woot the last time they were on sale. The charger was 100% real. The firmware of the charger even updated about a week after I started using it.

This was available at this price PLUS 10% off when purchase using App just couple weeks ago. And has been available at this price since WITHOUT the extra 10% discount. So this seems like regular price from Woot.

How does the firmware update - via USB connection to the MacBook?

I was/am using the MagSafe 3 cable that came with my MBP M4, but I don't see why it wouldn't update using a USB-C cable.

Apple chargers indeed do. When connected to your MacBook, on the desktop, click on the Apple "" logo at the top left corner, hold down the "option" button, click "System Information". Then navigate to Hardware > Power, and the firmware version is listed under "AC Charger Information".

It's $100 at Apple store, so this is half off for an authentic Apple charger. Of course, you can also get a non-Apple charger for less than $50. The 140W charger and Mag-Safe cable that came with my MacBook Pro normally sell for $150 at Apple!

All prices are made up by someone somewhere.

Nah, I'll just keep using my Anker charger.
