Have these and air tags. Air tags are more accurate and will update along the way when they are moving. These really only update when they are at a location for a while (probably less Samsung phones out there to track these).
I find these much faster to connect to and beep than airtags when trying to find them. They will also beep until you stop them unlike like airtags which only beep for a bit and stop.
My favorite feature that Apple really needs is there is a button on them that you can double press and it makes your phone start beeping. I love this feature.
My advice is if you are trying to track lost/stolen items outside your house then an airtag will be better. If you are just looking to keep track of your keys inside your house and are ok with less accuracy out and about then I like these much better than airtags.

My side by side tests of these and airtags in the same luggage across over 30 flights domestic and international showed the Samsung trackers to be significantly more accurate and live than airtags. They also checked in at a much more frequent rate.

Fyi: These are Samsung specific. Meaning they don't work on Apple phones. Just thought I throw that out there, cause someone gonna eventually ask.

Is there a setting to get the airtags to track more frequently? I've tried to put one on my son's bike so we know when he's arrived at a friend's house, but it almost seems like there's a 10-15 minute delay before registering that the tag has even left our house.

I noticed that too. I have tile and airtag in my car and the tile updates faster than airtag.

The more you know.....
Apple has tracking enabled by default on all iPhones. Samsung, and all other Android phones, have it turned OFF by default, so only Samsung users that intentionally enable it (basically only Samsung Smart tag users) will track the device. Of all the breech of privacy on today's smartphones, this is the one privacy breech Google decides to disable for some reason.

Do these have GPS tracking, or are they mostly for local use, to find a lost item at home and such? What's the cheapest decent GPS-enabled device to track a car in case it's stolen? Can't think of anything I own that I'd need to track otherwise.

I have used these Samsung tags over the past 3+ years in our luggage whenever we travel and has worked in every city we have traveled to. We were even able to track the bags exact location when Lufthansa lost our bag in Berlin and had no idea where the bag was as they outsource delivery to some 3rd party baggage handlers.
These tags have worked fine in tracking our bags across Hawaii, Spain, Portugal, Greece (including Santorini), Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Cannes, Nice, Korea, Japan, Singapore across multiple cities in Sri Lanka and India ..
The only thing I dislike about these tags are that they can only be registered to one Phone (device) at a time and can be tracked only on Samsung devices. Really want to lock you into Samsung only devices. No reason they cannot provide the tracking App on compatible Android devices.

My kids have both an Airtag and these on their knapsacks (wife has an iPhone I have a Samsung) and honestly, both are pretty bad and it's hard to say which one is better (or worse). At least with the Samsung I can see location history. I'm not sure if you can do that with the Airtags (or at least I couldn't figure it out).


The weirdest thing with these Samsungs is that my kids could be in the same place (i.e. on the bus together) and frequently it will only show the location for one of them as if some of these Samsung tags have longer range than others.

They register with one phone, but if you add another 'home' member in SmartThings you'll be able to share devices with others. My spouse (also a Samsung user) can see the location of our trackers just like I do.

Just don't be one of those people with trackers who insists to the flight attendant that your bag is still showing at the origination airport while you're in the air. Tracking tags are notorious for losing signal in enclosed spaces and they may not update until they can get signal out again. This happens more than you may think and people stress out during their flight only to have the bag arrive with them at the destination.

the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 does offer a feature similar to Apple's AirTag's "Last Known Location." Through the SmartThings Find app, you can view the last recorded location of your SmartTag 2 on a map, even if it's currently out of Bluetooth range. This functionality is supported by Samsung's Galaxy Find Network, which utilizes nearby Samsung devices to anonymously update your tag's location when it's beyond your phone's reach.
The problem here in the USA is that most people use iPhones rather than Samsung devices, so the "Last Known Location" feature may not work unless there's someone with a Samsung phone near the lost item.
