Have these and air tags. Air tags are more accurate and will update along the way when they are moving. These really only update when they are at a location for a while (probably less Samsung phones out there to track these).
I find these much faster to connect to and beep than airtags when trying to find them. They will also beep until you stop them unlike like airtags which only beep for a bit and stop.
My favorite feature that Apple really needs is there is a button on them that you can double press and it makes your phone start beeping. I love this feature.
My advice is if you are trying to track lost/stolen items outside your house then an airtag will be better. If you are just looking to keep track of your keys inside your house and are ok with less accuracy out and about then I like these much better than airtags.

My side by side tests of these and airtags in the same luggage across over 30 flights domestic and international showed the Samsung trackers to be significantly more accurate and live than airtags. They also checked in at a much more frequent rate.

Fyi: These are Samsung specific. Meaning they don't work on Apple phones. Just thought I throw that out there, cause someone gonna eventually ask.

SmartTag 2 works best if you have a Samsung phone with Ultra-wideband (UWB) capability. Models that have this are:
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (first Samsung phone with UWB, released in 2020)
Galaxy S Series:
Galaxy S21+ and S21 Ultra, Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra etc up to the S25+ and Ultra models
Galaxy Z Fold 2 and all models up to the Z Fold 6

Now that Google trackers are out, get something that works with the android-wide network, like the Chipolo trackers

I have a Samsung phone so I don't want an Airtag. I always get the latest flagship phone every 3 years and I've tried an iPhone for 3 years but I just like Android better. Why can't Apple fans just leave our deal discussions alone?

Cancelled our prime to see if we could actually live without it. Plus it feels good not further assisting Bezos tearing holes in the ozone for 10 minute joy rides. Orders like these get skipped over because shipping should be free. oh darn.

Similar boat. All my devices in house are Samsung and android. I dont have interest in getting or setting up an apple device solely for tracking airtags.
I just want something small, with decent battery life, that can help me track my backpack or suitcases if they get lost or stolen while traveling.

I use these tags with pixel 8a. I've had it for over a month and battery level is still near 100%. I've downloaded the utag app, so that it works with my non-samsung phones. I travel internationally so these tags make more sense than airtags.

Man reading the comments is a bit discouraging. I could use a tracker for the car so that my wife and I can keep an eye on each other. And I could also use one to facilitate finding things at home. But what Im hearing from the comments is that the product is just not there, no brand seems to have consistently worked for everyone. Bummer

Anyway to add an iPhone user to smart things?
SmartThings is available in the Apple store, so...maybe. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sma...1222822904

You can just enable location sharing on your phones if you want to be able to keep an eye out on each other.

Surprisingly, Samsung outsells Apple.
The more you know.....
Apple has dominated all android in the US market ONLY. The rest of the world are not drones that fell into the horrible Apple ecosystem.

Fwiw. I have air tags on my MTN bikes and dirt bikes for theft. I have disabled the speaker on the air tags, and will probably use these as a backup. You can disable the piezo as well. https://youtu.be/hIfUHOo93sk?si=AVRxG1PSvVXlDErn
unfortunately the airtag has been revised and you can no longer remove the speaker without causing it to break. any kind of tampering with the speaker will cause you to break your airtag

Yes, just came out, search for uTag on github, requires Android 11 or above and even supports UWB.

I was debating getting these or the various Google Find My Device based trackers but it seems like the FMD system has several shortcomings that still haven't been fixed despite natively being on every android phone. With the release of uTag, I think I'll commit to SmartTags.

Also before uTag, you could still use SmartTag in a roundabout way. You would need a Samsung Phone/Tablet to set it up, but then you could track using the SmartThings Find website.

Quote from DaScud :
The only thing I dislike about these tags are that they can only be registered to one Phone (device) at a time and can be tracked only on Samsung devices. Really want to lock you into Samsung only devices. No reason they cannot provide the tracking App on compatible Android devices.
See uTag
