Buy right, or buy twice.

Don't make the mistake of buying 1" standard size. Get 2" Olympic size from the start. Otherwise, you will have to buy everything all over again when you quickly outgrow the 1" sizes.

That depends on what you're planning to do and what you already have.
Not every activity requires massive amounts of weight and if you have the space for it, it's convenient to leave different bars set up at different weights.
At the moment we have ~200lbs of assorted 1" plates & things that use them all over the house (cable pulley systems, adjustable dumbbells, straight bars, etc.)
This seemed like a no brainer to add to what we already have -- especially since it showed up for me with a 10% off coupon on the product page.
