It is a switch. Not a splitter. Every device of this type seems to list itself as a splitter which they are not.

"Frequently returned item"....and for good reason, as non-externally powered HDMI switches are often hit-or-miss. There may be other issues with this thing as well, but that's been my experience (and the experience of many others), when it comes to using these types of HDMI switches.

I'd imagine most returned it because they thought it would mirror a display instead of toggle

One significant design flaw: The only way to trigger the switch is the button on the switch itself. Since it has HDMI cables coming out of both ends, you have to plan ahead to have it easily accessible while not awful looking and/or in the way

Not sure why an expensive Samsung smart monitor only has one hdmi port but this eventually detected and worked after changing some settings
