The dude at the Total Wireless store told me that they won't unlock the phone until after the three prepaid months are up and then only once you make a second payment, i.e., for the 4th month.

Is that wrong? Everybody here is saying that it will be automatically unlocked after 60 days, before the initial prepaid months are up.

DO NOT trust any reps from Total/ Metro in-store lol. Best bet is you can look up the unlocking policy by yourself, which should state the device will be unlocked after 60 days of service.

According to https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/ :

"For all cellphones Activated on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically 60 days after paid Activation and 60 days of paid active service."

The store rep didn't seem like an idiot, which makes me suspicious why he's telling me false information.

The other thing is, he is trying to charge me an extra $25 for "activation" or "pro setup" (for a total of $190) which he claims is always required, even if I order online, but that doesn't seem true, either.

The benefit of buying it through the store seems to be that I'll get the phone faster (he says he will have it there Wednesday). But I'm worried he's taking me for a ride somehow...

No it would be still 60 days after activation with 60 days of service (not 120 days in total). 99% of the time you will get up charged when you buy in store (activation fee, insurance, accessories, etcs), that's how they make money. You will be amazed how reps give false information all the time, lol.

This one is a "bugdet" phone, they literally put all the components from razr 2024 with the new chip (literally just boosted frequency from the old 2024 cpu).
The 2025 razr+ use Snap 8s Gen 3 and the ultra is using the latest 8 elite chip

Just order online. You'll probably get it before the store does.
