Verizon owns Total Wireless so could be legit since you just placed an order. Call Total Wireless and ask if there's an issue with the order.
Thanks. I just chatted with one of their CSR and I was told just to ignore it.

Let's see where that goes Wink

Hi all,

I just wanted to check if anyone who put an order for this phone has received an email similar to the attached.

It seems to be coming from a "Loss Prevention/Fraud Risk" of Verizon Wireless asking to call 1-888-333-9633 to confirm details on an order, however it doesn't mention anything about TotalWireless. It looks a little bit sketchy.

Any info would be appreciated.
It's a scam

No. Even though the phone is free, you're still buying it, hence CASHBACK.
The order detail/invoice page is not clear. It says 3 months plan $165, phone $599. Then order discount $599. It didn't say the discount for phone or plan. My understanding is the transaction will be reported to C1 by TW. We don't know how TW reports this transaction to C1

Total Wireless is owned by Verizon Communications Inc. It's part of Verizon's Value portfolio of prepaid brands, which also includes Tracfone, Simple Mobile, and Visible. Total Wireless was acquired by Verizon along with other Tracfone brands in 2001.

I think this is the standard message everyone gets.

They said they don't give pins for these trial plans so they may have caught on.
You need to tell them that you want to add more lines or check the status of an existing line. To do that, you need to log into the account — but you can't, because it's asking for a PIN that you never set up. So you should request a link to set up or reset the PIN.
Even if you just want to continue using the line and check its details, you still need access to the account to renew or manage it. It doesn't make sense that they can't provide a way to reset the PIN in this situation.

It turns out I got a cancellation email now and they refunded the money.

So it seems that it was a legit email.

With this deal I prepaid for 3 months up front. Does this just cancel after 3 months or do I have to request it to cancel after the 3 months are up?

By default auto renew is off, but it's always a good idea to look in your account to be sure.

I would assume that you are signing up for total wireless just for this promotion like me. If you are, you can just port out once the phone is unlocked towards the end of 3rd month.

Turns out Citibank double cash has a 12 dollar merchant cash back offer. Also, just a heads up that I had difficulty checking out with the Brave browser. Switched to Firefox and it worked okay.

I'm wondering is how does Total Wireless make any money if you can just leave after 3 months? Everybody else seems to lock you into a 24 month package so it makes sense to give you a free phone. Do they just hope you'll like the service so much you keep paying for it? I'm not complaining but I'm curious.

Sorry about the cancellation - customer service for the Tracfone brands is very poorly trained and often has no clue. Most long time users avoid unless absolutely necessary.
