I mean, yeah, it's a little shady to abuse the retention department, but I got stuff to do, I'm not sitting on hold for 45 mins, told some bs, get disconnected while on hold or xfr'd, and then call back in and wait for a supervisor, like a lot of people here did.
It was a 5 minute call and my phone was on my account and working.

protect yourself now and unlink that original returned IMEI before it gets activated to someone else's email. by that time, you would no longer have access to change your PII (credit card info) in the Payment Methods section because by that time, it's already linked to the new owner's email address which the customer service agent did for you.
oh, if i only know a lawyer, this would make him a lot of money for a class action suit for divulging people's PII.
