The Staples brand chair mat is garbage , I had 2 of them and neither one lasted a year before they cracked. I now the use one below which I got on Amazon and has lasted much longer:

just put rollerblade style wheels on your chair... these things are always crap on hard floors and they'll always crack.

I put these on my chair and my vinyl floor is getting damaged.

out of curiosity - was it the carpet one or the hardwood that was cracking?
i only had the hard floor one and it lasted me years until it was broken during a move.
i can imagine the carpet ones eventually cracking due to micro flexing.

also to note the one you linked is made in china. the one i had and bought again now when i found this deal are made in usa.
